Works great for me,

My experience is markedly different than the other reviewers of this product. I have several different types of cheese cutters in my kitchen gadget drawer and find myself reaching for this more often than the others. I like the ability to change the thickness of the slices of cheese by rotating the handle in your palm to be an advantage. I also note that there is an adjustment for the cutting wire tension so that you can keep it tight over time. I will admit that my initial uses of the slicer were clumsy, but when used often this is a really cool tool. Perhaps it's not for everyone, but it's a keeper for me!

In Defense of the Rosle Cheese Wire.,

I have to admit I was a bit bewildered when I first received the Rosle Cheese Wire as a gift. Having only used a "T" cheese wire in the past I was skeptical. But it has worked beautifully for several years now. It is comfortable and easy to manuever. I have had several Oxo wires which have all snapped after continued use. I have had no problems with this wire. I love the fact that I can tighten or loosen the wire for different type of cheeses or to vary the thickness of my slices. We go through multiple baby loafs of Tilamook Chedder every month and this is always the slicer of choice. And yes, it works for fresh mozzarella too. My three year old son even loves to use it, with adult supervision of course.

After the wires became too loose on a less-expensive cheese slicer, I finally spent the extra money on the Rosle. I am extremely glad I did. It provides easy slicing, with less resistance than the prior slicer. The long thin slicing section is maneuverable and easy to use. It has a nice weight, and looks great. The Rosle offers two different thicknesses to choose from (one on either side), a cheese fork, and the cutting wire can be replaced (if it ever breaks). It is dishwasher safe, and still looks and works great after washing.

I would recommend this product to everyone. It is extremely easy to use. It saves lots of time and each piece of cheese is uniformly cut.

Attractive to Look At and a Pleasure to Use, in the Rosle Tradition.,

This Wire Cheese Slicer for Rosle is a substantial implement, made of 18/10 stainless steel. It will slice cheese in either 4mm or 5mm thick slices. It is 10.5 inches (26.5 cm) long in total, from the hanging hook to the prongs for picking up your cheese slices. The wire slicer is 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) long. The tension of the wire is easily adjustable with a knob near the top of the slicer, and you can buy replacement wires. It's a handsome tool. The pronged end can be useful, but some people may find it an unnecessary addition of length. If the prongs bother you, you might want to try the WMF cheese slicer, which is not quite as sleek but has no prongs. This is the nicest wire cheese slicer I've used. The tension is just right, so it slices through relatively soft cheeses like a dream, making perfect, uniform slices. And it feels great in the hand. It will slice cheeses up to 4 inches wide and is much easier and consistent to use than a knife. Some people report that the wire breaks on hard cheeses, but this will happen with any wire cheese slicer. It goes without saying that a wire slicer cannot be used on Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino Romano, or anything equally dense. It's for sliceable cheeses. It makes easy work of them, and both the slices and your Rosle slicer will look great on your table.

Sleek looks but no performance,

The wire broke after about three slices (of soft mozzarella), with no evident way to repair or replace it. Additionally, the stainless handle is too highly polished and easily becomes slippery. Leverage is not as good as the cheaper "T" shaped wire cutters.

I have had an aluminum T type cheese slicer for over 26 years. It has seen hard, continual use, and thankfully is still in my possession. I bought this Rosle just over 6 months ago, have used it probably less than 10 times, and the wire broke tonight. Of course, the return period expired 2 months ago! The Rosle has not been abused, or overused. It just broke doing the task it is supposedly engineered to do. Buy something else! Not this!

was a little concerned to buy due to the negative reviews i saw. however, being forewarned, i'm always sure not to overtighten the wire. i tend to loosen it off when i put it in the dishwasher or kitchen drawer & just tighten before use. this is quick & easy & is no inconvenience whatsoever. i'[m not sure if i need to do this, as the product came with no instructions & there are none on the manufacturer's website either, so just being cautious as i like this & don't want it to break. i've had it for a couple of months now & use it on cheddar blocks. it produces a nice consistent slice that is quite presentable, is quick & easy to use, & stops our cheese from being hacked into odd shapes, which used to happen all the time. the more you use it, the better your slices look. i was a bit unsure if i should buy this as it's pretty expensive compared to some other items out there, but having had a number of 'dud' cheese slicers that didn't work well & went straight back to the store, i'm happy tht i now have this one. and it doesn't take up much space in the drawer. best i've found with lots of looking, & i'm fussy about kitchen products working really well.

Needs Improvement,

Good slicer, cuts through a lot, have not yet broke the wire. Needs a sheath, I put it in a crowed drawer and bent the wire up. It doesn't affect the cutting, but looks funny. Constantly tightening the wire tensioner also.
