Ever since i heard Ruth Brown sing a song with the words, "If I can't sell it, I might as well sit on it" I was hooked to this womens sensibilities and unshakeable determination as a performer. Listening to this collection of songs gives you a good idea of what a true pioneer and talent Ruth Brown still is. From the opening track of sing-talk swagger to Love Letter, to the bad mama blues with Bonnie Raitt she not only entertains but reminds us all how few of these performers are left. Lots of great music and singing on this exceptional album.
