Young Jeezy has been a hip-hop artist oft criticized for the depth of his lyrics/rhymes. When he released his first album in 2005 (Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101) , the criticism was that all he rapped about was making money - specifically how he made it. Even so, he endeared himself as the "Snowman"and his success has been unquestionable as he continues to make money. While new single "R.I.P." featuring 2 Chainz is by no means the most lyrically deep song of 2013, the sound definitely contrasts anything that Jeezy has released, at least sound-wise. There is an old school influence (the low sounding synth), fused with southern rap cues (clapping snares, treble synth, etc.). He brags about "killing the club" citing his 'you guessed it' - money/money making abilities. It is what it is, but hip-hop lovers will nod their head a couple of times.
