4.0 out of 5 stars Love Our Oysters
Well we are really happy that we are now able to get our Oysters in the shell and shuck them ourselves. They are much cheaper that way. This Shucker works well and is pretty fast. I do think we will buy an oyster knife to go along with it. Although it opens pretty good you need a good knife to finish opening.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price.
I'll never shuck by hand again. This opens the oyster with some force and then you just cut the attached parts from the top and bottom of the shell. No more worries about getting cut. With a thicker gauge metal and longer handle, this would be perfect. All others I found were so much more expensive that I wouldn't buy them unless I was going to use for restaurant quantity...

All others I found were so much more expensive that I wouldn't buy them unless I was going to use for restaurant quantity production. Very happy with my purchase!
Update: after owning it for a while, I find that some oysters are too difficult and I nearly bend the metal lever trying to open an oyster. I'm still glad I bought it, but I'm dropping the rating from 5 to 3 stars.

HANDY TOOL FOR OPENING OYSTERS AT HOME. I WOULD HAVE LIKED SAME CONCEPT BUT A BIT HEAVIER DUTY BASE AND METAL BUT IT SHOULD DO THE JOB!

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk! Do not buy this oyster shucker. Came apart on the first try., November 28, 2010

Probably a nice idea but how would I know, the shucker broke on first oyster we tried. Very flimsy material and the part that is supposed to penetrate the shell is only "tacked" to the operating arm and fell off the arm on the very first try. Junk, Junk, Junk. I had read the previous bad review but thought the shucker couldn't be that bad. I was wrong. Don't waste your time and money, buy an oyster knife instead.

I had found a really good shucker here a couple years ago but never bought it. Was looking for that same oyster shucker this time, but couldn't find it so I settled for this one. You do get what you pay for - it's kinda flimsy but did the job. If you don't eat oysters ALL the time, this would be fine. If you shuck a lot of oysters, go for a better one :)

I have used the Clam shucker for 30 years and it works well. So I had my hopes up! The Oyster shucker is just no good, sorry : ( . I bought it to try and save my hands from occasional gashes while opening oysters. But the design just doesn't get at the hinge where the oyster needs to be cracked open.

I was understandably cautious after reading the reviews...
This is a godsend. I used to hate shucking oysters and hence avoided them in lieu of clams.
Works really well. I kind of like opening oysters now.
Overall, I am so happy because my daughter & I love oysters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Heavy Duty enough, February 6, 2011
This review is from: R & M International Oyster Shucker (Kitchen)
the base is too light, it move and flip over when your push down, the metal is too thin, the metal bend and twist when you try to open an oyster, also, the shape part is too small, it won't open up the oyster big enough to put a knife in

buy this one, [...] , i have one of this, and this work 100x better
