Good graphics, o.k. game play, lousy story,
By Willy Boy "Willy Boy" (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: R Racing Evolution (Video Game)
The story contained in this game develops like a bad anime. Essentially you are plucked from the streets of Metropolis due to your potential as a great race car driver (based on the fact that you can drive an ambulance real fast). You start to work essentially for organized crime, but eventually you move on your own to start your own racing team with friends (the mob lets you go if you win one race, beacue its the right thing to do). You do not really have any competition. The graphics of this game are excellent, though repetitive. While the car races are fun intially, they too become repetetive. Your car upgrades do not really accomplish anything. Unfortunately, I bought this game when it first came out for $60. If I had bought it for its current reduced price I would have given it an extra half of star.

This review is from: R Racing Evolution (Video Game)
Racing Evolution is one of my three favorite games for the XBox; the other two are Project Gotham Racing 2 and Sega GT 2002.
Racing Evolution's graphics are somewhat middling; better than Sega GT, but not as good as PGR2. What really sets this game apart from the others is the storyline. I won't ruin the story for you (as another reviewer almost did) but in my opinion, it adds a good element to the game, rather than detracting from it. You feel as if you're really on a pro-circuit. Another addition is the fact the pit crew will talk to you, guiding you through courses and either praising you for a well executed turn or telling you why you took the wrong line. At first it unsettled me (I was so unused to it) but then I got used to it, then liked it, then missed it when I played other games. And the main reason I love this game: it WILL teach you how to drive. The physics engine is insane; harder to learn that PGR2. You HAVE to take the right line, or more than likely you'll spin out and (in)conveniently end up facing the wrong direction. This game almost forces you to learn how to brake early, take the right line, and how to accelerate out of turns. It is for this alone it is worth buying, as you will be a better driver (at least in video games).

Great Racing RPG game,

I think this game is quite imaginative, and challenging. I don't know why the story-line is put down. It is a videogame, and I've certainly seen worse story-lines and voice acting in many videogames I've played. (House of the Dead 2, comes to mind). I'm not sure why the other reviewers are complaining about the story-line.
This game features a lovely Asian lady, who has worked as an EMT, and now looks forward to the challenges of working as a race car driver. How can you beat that? She has a sexy way about her, that makes her an interesting character to watch, and be influenced by. Her lack of an accent is sexy as hell, as we watch her shimmy her way into each scenario and race. We WANT HER TO WIN!!! I give this one Two very hard thumbs up! Way up!
