Glenn Quinn's last movie,
By Michael Bolts (superior, wiusa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: R.S.V.P. (DVD)
Rick Otto plays Nick who is studying serial killers and gets too carried away thinking that he can stage the perfect and ultimate mass murder without getting nagged. He invites his friends over for a "going away" party for another friend who is leaving and one by one they vanish. This thriller also stars Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Vulgar), Reno Wilson, Daniel Joseph, Jonathan Banks, Grace Zabriskie, Majandra Delfino (Tv's Roswell), Brandi Andres and the late Glenn Quinn (Tv's Angel, Campfire Tales) who passed away in December of 2002 from a heroine overdose which this being his last. Quinn and Otto spew out excellent performances and Jason Mewes does his usual Jay characterization. Those elements are the glue that holds this piece together along with the direction. Written by the Director.

It's all in the details ... or in the extras,

This review is from: R.S.V.P. (DVD)
Fans of the late Glenn Quinn already knew that this DVD would be a can't-miss, since "R.S.V.P." was Quinn's last film. The movie itself is a fairly standard tongue-in-cheek thriller, with a cast that all seemed to be having a good time gently tweaking the conventions of the genre (including Jason "Jay" Mewes doing basically the same character as always), but as often happens, the real strength of this DVD is in the "special features." The deleted scenes show the viewer an entirely new perspective on the movie and its characters, particularly Hal Evans, the character played by Quinn. In pleasant contrast to the "Angel" season 1 DVD released earlier this year, the production commentary acknowledges Quinn's contribution to the film and his untimely death. Make sure to watch the production commentary all the way to the end, past the very end of the final credits. Too bad we'll never see that sequel.

Quality Horror,

This review is from: R.S.V.P. (DVD)
To tell you the truth, once this movie got going(yes, it was a *little* slow-going at first), I had a hard time watching it, not because it was bad though. It was a very well-done horror film actually. The plot is as follows: A guy is throwing a party for his best friend whom is now dating his ex-girlfriend, as the party go's on people keep wondering where the guy is that he's throwing the party for, because he's just not showing up. But he keeps reassuring them that he'll be there. But he soon begins picking his party guest off one by one. I wont give anything else away, and maybe it doesn't sound like the most inventive film, but it has real emotions and brains involved so you know its not your average slasher film, but if you're one who does like slasher films, you'll probably hate this movie because it is a *little* bit slow-going at first, but once it gets going it doesn't stop. Some of the kills are fairly gruesome, and the lead character, oh, he was great, I had a hard time watch because of those to element, but that's a good thing.! So, if you enjoy quality horror films, you'll enjoy R.S.V.P. . *Enjoy* God Bless ~Amy
