I made this mistake too, this is a camera to be used with a CCTV which means you already have a monitor to be seen on, it's not a stand alone camera, as I think you are looking for. I didn't read the specifications properly and now I have to send it back and I ordered a WiFi / IP Camera, which can be easily set up through the computer or mobile device, you do need a current network to set it up (In case you are thinking of using it for the summer cabin or something, just an example) With IP / WiFi surveillance cameras you can set up to be recorded whether its video or pictures every period of time, although you need a computer and it has to be left on to record. I bought a Foscam FI8910W and I'm happy with it, I've playing around with it and it would do for the purpose I wanted it for, check every now and then how things are running at a work place. Hope this helps.

The camera has adjustable viewing angle that ranges from 2.8mm (very wide) to 12mm (zoom). There is also an adjustable focus; this is somewhat sensitive and does require patience to set properly. Both angle and focus are adjusted with small (standard) set screw.

I'm really not sure and that could be because of my particular model DVR...The company's phone number is 866-514-8998.

This is an analog video camera. It should work with any DVR with BNC connectors.
