This record's okay. The lyrics can be funny but are generally corny. They're supposed to be all street and grit, born from the gutters of NYC but the fact is they grew up in Massachusetts. Its hard to take this stuff seriously when they just come across as smartasses who circulate in a scene of trendy, affluent, professionally famous types. Find a Screamers record instead.

Sure, they are a joke, but when I get off work and i'm racing home--and I plug in this CD--for a breif moment the earth trembles in my mighty grasp. I saw them live, but I didn't realize how perfect they are because I was waiting to be (sadly) dissapointed by Trans-Am--so I thought A.R.E. were wierd freaks (and I usually go for wierd freaks). I saw their disc in the used bin and I tested the CD in the little player they have, and my jaw hit the floor--I was blown away. This is the male response to the typically more feminine genre of electro-clash (IE: Le Tigre, Peaches, Chicks on Speed, Ladytron, Miss Kitten, etc.). It's not as slick as The Faint or Fitcherspooner though--it's more like a brilliant parody of The Stooges on bad rave candy. This is, without question, my deserted island CD.

MAN, LIKE, DON'T BE SCARED OF THIS ALBUM BECAUSE IT'S TOO GOOD. THE PRODUCTION IS GOOD, THE SYNTHS REMIND ME OF PLAYING NBA LIVE '96, AND IT HELPED ME WIN THE TEXAS DRIFT COMPETITION. THIS IS THE DEFINITIVE LINEUP OF THE WEAPONS BEFORE 9 MEMBERS OF THA DIED OF ODS. STANDOUT TRACKS ARE DEFINITELY ALL OF THEM. SOMETIMES THE NIGHT CLUB TURNS INTO A FIGHT CLUB, THOUGH. LONG LIVE THE WEAPONS. AWSOME.
