5.0 out of 5 stars Does the trick!
Considering it's no longer really ideal to go back to the old school mix tapes for your radio recording pleasures, this really does the trick. I've had no problems with my FM recording (don't need AM) and the software has worked perfectly. I did have a problem with the preset recording ONCE, but that was due to my computer's error, not the software, and not the shark...

2.0 out of 5 stars Many features, but the most important feature is not!
Great concept and idea, but the most important feature is not. This product does NOT tune stations very well. There are about 5 radio stations that I listen to, and I could only tune into 1 of them! I thought that it might be due to my location, so I tried it from home. There, I got 2 stations. It's not due to the signal quality from the radio stations because I have...

2.0 out of 5 stars Many features, but the most important feature is not!, July 16, 2007
This review is from: RADIOSHARK2 - Am/fm Radio Recorder (Personal Computers)
Great concept and idea, but the most important feature is not. This product does NOT tune stations very well. There are about 5 radio stations that I listen to, and I could only tune into 1 of them! I thought that it might be due to my location, so I tried it from home. There, I got 2 stations. It's not due to the signal quality from the radio stations because I have a receiver in the same room which was able to tune into those stations with NO problem. The antenna extension did NO good.

This product is on it's way back to Amazon.

The RadioShark2 suffers from similar problems that the RadioShark has. My RadioShark2 is located in the second story and gets acceptable, not good by any means, reception on FM. The AM section is almost a total joke! The AM reception is very buzzy, hum filled on a strong AM signal much much worse on a weak AM signal. It is barely acceptable on a station 5 miles from my location. At $70 it would be returned! At $40 it does work to pick up FM stations. It is too bad that the AM section is so awful!! The should be a law preventing such misleading comments from the manufacturer in their description of this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great product if you like to listen to radio often., January 27, 2007

The RadioShark works well when the radio signals are very clear. I have had to use the extension cable and even then I hear some static. I thought the reception would have been clearer. When recording I have had to use music editing software to clean out the static that comes from poor reception. A great product if you like to listen to radio often.

The Snaptune software gave trouble to install and I deleted it and used the more reliable radioShark software. Overall I am satisfied, but there are many improvements that can be done with his useful tool.

I did have a problem with the preset recording ONCE, but that was due to my computer's error, not the software, and not the shark. The RadioShark was actually recommended to me by a local radio DJ after I asked how I can get copies of his mixes since they're not offered on PodCasts. Now I can have the mixes I want whenever I want them. Best thing EVER!

This is the most disappointing product I have bought in a long time. The radio reception is so bad, it's unusable. There is no excuse for shipping such a bad product. Do not buy.

Luckily, I live within 10 miles of the AM radio tower I wish to listen and record. However, I must remember to tune in the station in the morning, or the Shark will not center on the frequency when it starts to record. It will give a very fuzzy reception. The software sets up easily and works. Like it was said before, "great idea, poor components". How much trouble would have been to get a modest (clock radio quality receiver)!

I read about this item on-line while researching podcasts. I wanted to record my favorite local programs and listen when I had time. This allows you to listen to am and fm radio on your computer with a delay built in. You can pause or rewind while you listen. I have setup two different recording times and it does exactly what I asked of it. I titled this "Shaky start" because the first Shark2 I got from Amazon.com did not work. I contacted Griffin Technologies about a possible fix and they e-mailed me directions on how to destroy the one I had, send them a photo of the destroyed one, and they sent me a new one right away. I couldn't be happier with Griffin! The replacement worked as advertised right out of the box. I have been using their products for years and this experience will keep me coming back. One note,,,, you cannot listen to or record on-line streaming or HD radio with this device. It comes with a USB extender cable and an fm range extender. I highly reccommend this product.

Just received Radioshark2. It has very poor AM reception although other radios in the same location have OK reception. The FM reception is just average. Two bonus programs, iFill, Proxi, not received although listed as present on CD.

Radioshark2 isn't worth the money. Most likely, I'm going to return it.

I have no problems with reception in my apartment. The niggle is the mac software. Not very intuitive, but works fine otherwise. Wish it could integrate better with iTunes. Didn't try the windows software. Excellent product and at $30-$40, worth it, in my opinion.

When it works, it works nicely. But the reception is good for FM, but the AM, is bad if your trying to reach a distant station, sadly, I wanted to reach a distant station (one) i can reach with my stardard radio, but could get absoultly nothing from the shark fin, trying every location possible...
