3.0 out of 5 stars Vaccine concerns
A good article on vaccines and there possible effects. Found some of the ideas quite interesting despite contradicting standard medical practices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for all parents concerned about vaccines & their kids, March 31, 2005
This review is from: RAISING A VACCINE FREE CHILD (Hardcover)
There is more and more information coming to light on the topic of health risks and damage associated with vaccines - the mercury/autism issue is only one of many.

It can be a frightening road for concerned parents to navigate when trying to decide for themselves if there is indeed risks associated with vaccines, and if those risks exceed the benefits or not. Traditional healthcare practitioners, having never researched the topic themselves and believing what they've been told during their training and by the drug reps, often take a hostile view towards those parents who would "dare to question" vaccines.

This book is a great resource with a wealth of knowledge for those progressive parents who want to decide for themselves about vaccines and whether or not they want their kids to receive them. It is well thought out, easy to read, and has strong references to back up the various claims.

Unfortunately, much of the "accepted" research that physicians, nurses, and the media often cite has been performed by individuals with a conflict of interest and/or funded by companies/organizations who profit from vaccines. The following statement by the author is quite pointed:

"Governments have a moral responsibility to ensure that vaccines are properly tested for side effects before they foist them on their subjects, but all governments fail dismally in this duty. They prefer to take the easy option of just believing what the manufacturers say..."

I have pretty much every book written on this topic, "The vaccine guide", "Vaccinations a thoughtful parents guide", Vaccines - are they really safe and effective", "Vaccination roulette", "What your Dr. may not tell you about childrens vaccines", etc. They are all great & even having read them all there was still new information in this book that enabled me to learn even more on the topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eye Opening!, March 23, 2011
I am so thankful for this book. I had already made an informed decision to not vaccinate my child based on facts regarding the risks and benefits of vaccines. This book gave me the confidence I needed to realize that I am capable of keeping my child healthy and caring for my child, should she get a childhood illness. It also taught me a lot about the history of vaccine development, research, and propaganda. There is also a lot in this book about homeopathic medicine, which was very educational for me since I knew little about it before. I would highly recommend this book, which is backed up completely by references.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on vaccination, December 13, 2007
This review is from: RAISING A VACCINE FREE CHILD (Hardcover)
This is the best book on vaccination I have read because it not only explains what is wrong with vaccination, it also helped me lose my fear of the diseases that my children could catch by giving me information about each disease. The advice is not flighty, it is backed up with evidence from scientific studies. People who do vaccinate also need this advice because their children can get the diseases.
I found the historical section amazing. We have been taught to believe untrue myths, and every parent needs to know the true historical facts, especially about Pasteur and Jenner.
I liked the amusing anecdotes about the way believers in vaccination behave, and after reading it I am better able to cope with the anger that my decision not to vaccinate provokes.

This is a must have book for those raising or planning on raising (or even wanting to know about raising!) a vaccine free child.

I learned a great deal about all of the VPDs (vaccine preventable diseases) and how to properly treat them - something most people aren't aware of anymore!

This is well laid out, researched, and cited. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Written and Easy To Read, June 12, 2008
This review is from: RAISING A VACCINE FREE CHILD (Hardcover)
I highly recommend this book to any parent who is seeking information about vaccination. I found Raising a Vaccine Free Child to be well researched, well written and easy to read. It is exactly the book I needed when my first child came along. Wendy Lydall provides a scientifically referenced case against vaccination as well as providing helpful information about infectious diseases. Not only has this book given me a great insight into the scientific, social and financial history of vaccination, but it has given me confidence in my decision not to vaccinate.

5.0 out of 5 stars distinction between childhood and malevolent diseases, November 14, 2008
This review is from: RAISING A VACCINE FREE CHILD (Hardcover)
First of all, let me point out the things I don't like about the book:

- There is no index, making it difficult to search a specific issue in the book.
- The book is not as well organized as it could be, I would have liked to see it organized by diseases or vaccines, instead of focused only on vaccination myths.
- I would have liked a section on resources, and some more info on the author.
- I don't agree on some of the authors' nutrition advice, since I believe she underestimates the role that fresh, organic raw foods can play in a person's well-being.

Having said the above, this is the book on vaccinations that I have referenced the most, because it is extremely well-researched; has a lot of good historical, factual information; is very informative of the healing powers and limitations of homeopathic medicine; and also has clear information on what to do when/if a child is sick with a disease.

The book is a good expose of the vaccine industry, presenting clear arguments to contradict the claims made by this industry, and illustrating the means they use for deceiving the general public, and the financial motives behind this deception.

Last and not least, the author makes a very clear distinction between childhood and malevolent diseases, which is absent in most other vaccine related books. This distinction is very important not only for those who decide not to vaccinate their child, but also for those who want to apply a limited number of vaccinations, since you have a better understanding of what the short and long term trade offs are of the vaccines you want to apply.

I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to make a decision on the well-being of their child.

5.0 out of 5 stars I did read this book, twice!, August 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
So far, I have read about 6 books written about vaccines, and out of all these, I most recommend "Raising Vaccine Free Child" by Wendy Lydall. I like this book so much because not only does Ms. Lydall explain why many vaccines are dangerous or actually don't work (which some of the reviewers obviously didn't go over), but she in addition describes what to do (or not to do) when one does contract any of the diseases that are typically vaccinated for. If you are a parent who has decided not to vaccinate his/her child, or if you haven't decided what to do, I believe it would be very helpful to have this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for raising a healthy child, August 18, 2006

This review is from: RAISING A VACCINE FREE CHILD (Hardcover)
End the fear campaign that vaccines bring about. Learn how to treat the childhood diseases and do it w/o fear and w/o intimidation. Vaccines aren't the best thing since sliced bread and childhood diseases do have a purpose.
