I bought this to use on my '07 Yamaha FZ6. Even with all the electronic wiring and what have you on the tubular handle bars, I was able to fit this mount on. It's very secure and I have complete confidence in it. The photo for this item does not show the protective spacer that goes underneath between the metal u-shaped connector and the handlebar, so there is no metal on metal. I "think" the picture is an option not to use the protector, I could be wrong. This is a great mount, it moves in many different ways, and locks easily and securely, so don't be fooled by the item picture if that's a concern of yours. Hope I eased any second thoughts on this mount.

Used this to mount my Garmin Nuvi 550 to my snowmobile and have no complaints. Very secure despite all the bumps and jarring on the trail. Swings out of the way to get into handlebar bag, and for refueling. Great supplier too!

I purchased this mount after seeing how limited Garmin's own offering for Motorcycle mounts for their waterproof Nuvis was. It arrived earlier than expected (Thank you Amazon!) and was off on a 1200 mile ride very quickly. Thoughout the ride the only time it moved was when I moved it. It held the unit secure and was easy to remove and replace the unit. The adjustment involves balls on both ends so it is extremely adjustable. The mount comes with two different U-Bolts for different sized handle bars. The larger one fit my Harley FLHTC perfect. I have no gripes at all with this and I have recommended RAM mounts to others.
