This review is from: RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-149Z-GA12U Handlebar Mount for Garmin Astro 220, GPS 60, GPSMAP 60, 60C, 60CS, 60CX, 60CSx (Electronics)
I purchased the GPS60CSX and the mount for my motorcycle after my Garmin Legend fell off its mount and reading about the higher end motorcycle units having vibration issues. When I got this mount, I was a little concerned that the GPS wouldn't stay in it, I couldn't find anyway for it to stay attached. What I missed in the instructions (or they didn't say) is you have to use the clip from the belt unit that comes with the GPS60CSX.
Once the clip was put on the GPS, it clicked in solidly. At little too solidly which is why it gets a 4. I'm not too keen about leaving the GPS on my bike when I stop to eat or something, and taking it out of the holder is a little difficult. I guess that's good because it means it won't just pop out. I have used, and still use, Ram mounts. They are solidly built and well constructed. The double-ball figure-8 design makes it pretty easy to put the unit where you need it. My only other complaint is that they are difficult to adjust while riding and using one hand. Of course, one could argue that I shouldn't be doing that also. For safety, I loop the GPS lanyard around the mount so in case it does pop out of it's holder, the lanyard will keep it attached until I can pull over.

Improvised to Make It Right (Tight),
This review is from: RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-149Z-GA12U Handlebar Mount for Garmin Astro 220, GPS 60, GPSMAP 60, 60C, 60CS, 60CX, 60CSx (Electronics)
First time out was a flop - literally. The mount felt like it was securely fastened to the handlebars. However, after about two miles the mount flopped over and was hanging upside down. We have a very nice rail-trail locally. It's a decent place to ride, but in order to get to it from our house we have to bike about 3 1/2 miles on city streets ... a lot of which are in bone-jarring, teeth-rattling pathetic shape. Because of problems I've created for myself in the past by over-tightening bolts, clamps, brackets, etc, I was leary to tighten the U-bolt on the RAM handlebar mount any more. What I did to solve the problem was that I cut a small piece of rubber ... single thickness ... from an old bike inner tube and wrapped it around the bike's handlebar right where I (re)mounted the GPS mount. Now the mount stays put. [It would be helpful if the manufacturer would include a small strip of rubber along with the rest of the mounting hardware.]

Yes, for hard riding...,

I use this mount on my dirt bike, mountain bike, and in my car. I have the basic ball mount portion affixed on all 3 of those things, and just transfer the cradle and arm-bar to each one. I have used it on my dirt bike for one full riding season, riding motocross trails many weekends throughout the spring/summer/fall, and often rode 50 miles a day. This includes some jumping and lots of bumpy riding. So the reviewer who said it was not for hard riding must be really putting their GPS unit to the coals. I had such a hard time getting my receiver out of the cradle that I actually used a small round file on part of the cradle to make it easier to get it in and out. This system is very high quality and for the price, a great deal.
