4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good except for one thing...
I purchased the GPS60CSX and the mount for my motorcycle after my Garmin Legend fell off its mount and reading about the higher end motorcycle units having vibration issues. When I got this mount, I was a little concerned that the GPS wouldn't stay in it, I couldn't find anyway for it to stay attached. What I missed in the instructions (or they didn't say) is you have...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for hard riding!
I own a Garmin 60csx and used it with this mount on my last ride in baja Mexico. To make this review short and sweet I'll just say: This mount is NOT for hard riding! On our first day it fell out, or was bounced out twice ( it bounced out from the bottom of the mount ) before I finally gave up. I now have to have my 60csx repaired by Garmin at a cost of $150.00. Needless...

What I missed in the instructions (or they didn't say) is you have to use the clip from the belt unit that comes with the GPS60CSX.

Once the clip was put on the GPS, it clicked in solidly. At little too solidly which is why it gets a 4. I'm not too keen about leaving the GPS on my bike when I stop to eat or something, and taking it out of the holder is a little difficult. I guess that's good because it means it won't just pop out.

I have used, and still use, Ram mounts. They are solidly built and well constructed. The double-ball figure-8 design makes it pretty easy to put the unit where you need it. My only other complaint is that they are difficult to adjust while riding and using one hand. Of course, one could argue that I shouldn't be doing that also.

For safety, I loop the GPS lanyard around the mount so in case it does pop out of it's holder, the lanyard will keep it attached until I can pull over.

4.0 out of 5 stars Improvised to Make It Right (Tight), August 5, 2009
This review is from: RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-149Z-GA12U Handlebar Mount for Garmin Astro 220, GPS 60, GPSMAP 60, 60C, 60CS, 60CX, 60CSx (Electronics)
First time out was a flop - literally. The mount felt like it was securely fastened to the handlebars. However, after about two miles the mount flopped over and was hanging upside down. We have a very nice rail-trail locally. It's a decent place to ride, but in order to get to it from our house we have to bike about 3 1/2 miles on city streets ... a lot of which are in bone-jarring, teeth-rattling pathetic shape. Because of problems I've created for myself in the past by over-tightening bolts, clamps, brackets, etc, I was leary to tighten the U-bolt on the RAM handlebar mount any more. What I did to solve the problem was that I cut a small piece of rubber ... single thickness ... from an old bike inner tube and wrapped it around the bike's handlebar right where I (re)mounted the GPS mount. Now the mount stays put. [It would be helpful if the manufacturer would include a small strip of rubber along with the rest of the mounting hardware.]

I use this mount on my dirt bike, mountain bike, and in my car. I have the basic ball mount portion affixed on all 3 of those things, and just transfer the cradle and arm-bar to each one. I have used it on my dirt bike for one full riding season, riding motocross trails many weekends throughout the spring/summer/fall, and often rode 50 miles a day. This includes some jumping and lots of bumpy riding. So the reviewer who said it was not for hard riding must be really putting their GPS unit to the coals. I had such a hard time getting my receiver out of the cradle that I actually used a small round file on part of the cradle to make it easier to get it in and out. This system is very high quality and for the price, a great deal.

This is one strong mount. I use it on my trail bike and let me tell you this is one strong mount! it is really worth the price and then some. I have used it for about two weeks now. there is no way your GPS will ever fall out in fact it holds it so tight I have to us an allen wrench to remove the button mount in order to remove the GPS without damage. There is some vibration but the solid mount and peace of mind that my expense Gps will never fall off out ways a little vibration. This is The mount you want to use for dirt bikes or mountain bikes. Great product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rugged mount, August 12, 2009
This review is from: RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-149Z-GA12U Handlebar Mount for Garmin Astro 220, GPS 60, GPSMAP 60, 60C, 60CS, 60CX, 60CSx (Electronics)
I used this mount on my dual sport bike and it held up very well to a 560 mile trip. This trip was mostly on dirt roads and the occasional nasty trail. It holds the Garmin securely, however the Garmin started to show wear marks in 2 spots. This was due to sand and vibration. I think a thin film of silicone in those spots will stop the wear. Overall, i'm quite happy with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid unit. Will buy again, June 20, 2009

This review is from: RAM Mounting Systems RAM-B-149Z-GA12U Handlebar Mount for Garmin Astro 220, GPS 60, GPSMAP 60, 60C, 60CS, 60CX, 60CSx (Electronics)
This product is solid and dependable. I have had it on my mountain bike for a couple months and have had no problems. The mount holds the GPS unit firmly and securely, and the flexibility of the mount allows for it to be positions so that its both out of the way, and completely accessible and visible.

The one word of caution is that the mount assumes you have the round piece that comes with the GPS. This is the small round bit that screws into the back of the GPS unit and is intended to attach it to the belt holder. If you didn't use the belt holder, and didn't attach the round bit like I did, you may be confused as to how the GPS connects to the mount. Luckily I kept the original packaging and had the bit. Otherwise this mount would be useless. So make sure you keep the round bit :)

I would definitely buy this again. It is well worth the extra money over the cheaper mount units.

This is the best mount i've found by far. I do downhill and XC races. i map my trails so i can go back later and ride or just give to friends. I've beaten the crap out of this and my bike., some pretty good wrecks and the mount and garmin stay on the ball mounts might move but i just loosen and put back where they go and keep riding. Now i know there are problems with the Garmin mount and i think the first run of these had issues but mine works great hold it in there tight. No way the GPS would come out of the bottom of this mount. Yes it does rattle alittle but it won't fall out. i recommend buy this if your looking for a good mount.

I use it on my DRZ-400 for dual sport riding. I think it is the best mount available. Super sturdy, great flexibility. I have seen other mounts out there but I think this one is the best. Well worth the money.

I bought this to go on my Ninja 650r and it works perfect. It's very easy to install and because of the swivel there are a number of ways you can position it to best fit you. The craftsman ship appears to be top notch (no cheap plastic). The only beef I have so far is that you can hear a slight vibration. I'm no sure what the source of it is yet. But I would highly recommend it to anybody who needs a good, solid motorcycle mount for the Garmin 60cx.
