Solid quality RAM product. The base is cast aluminum and the ball is made of either solid rubber or the ball is some other material and coated in a hard rubber. The point of the ball being rubber or rubber coated is that it'll keep the mount extenstion that is attached to it from moving around. Very well made.

My particular item was not finished nearly as nicely as pictured in that the base is more of a matte black, the metal shaft is partially painted black and partially exposed aluminum, and the rubber of the ball is not consistently shiny or matte in finish. This of course will have zero impact on its function, just pointing out that I expect exceptional finish from RAM products and did not get it on this one. Call me picky.

I've used Rammount products for years, mainly on my motorcycle where they really take a beating. Never had a failure and never had to replace a part because it was wore out. They're stuff is built to last and really stands out in today's world of disposable everything. I wouldn't consider using any other brand of mount. There's just no reason to do so.

Probably this part should be standard en every ram mount system instead of crappy plastic one. Bought it to replace broken plastic one for my garmin gps mount that just cracked after tightening it a bit to make it stop shaking. Now doesn't shake anymore and holds tightening pressure with no signs of effort.

So far I'm pleased with the quality of RAM products. The plastic is very sturdy and the metal parts are strong and high quality.

Not much to say, it is a ball mounted to a base, and it works. I'm using it with the RAM iPad mount.

Every RAM Mount product I have ever used has been rugged and high quality.

These mounts are strong and are not cheap junk. These mounts are easily customized to what you want. They adapt to almost anyplace you want to use them. Great product. Just a tad expensive.

Well if you Know RAM products they are typical high quality. Great solutions to tricky problems.
