5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Esta música nos refresca!, February 28, 2008
This review is from: Raro (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Spanish Language Pop, March 18, 2009
This review is from: Raro (Audio CD)
I was in a record store in Madrid and the cover of "Raro" caught my eye. I had never heard of the group, but gave them a listen and was hooked from the very first hook. I must have listened to the CD over 50 times in the first couple of months.

If you speak Spanish, the lyrics are funny and clever. I lived in Madrid for several years back in the 80's and 90's. (El Cuarteto de Nos is from Uruguay, by the way) I have listened to a lot of Spanish pop, but never run across anything as sophistated lyric-wise as Dylan, Elvis Costello or Joni Mitchell. El Cuarteto is not up to that level, either, but it is way beyond your ususal Spanish pop fare.

And if you don't speak Spanish, El Cuarteto de Nos still rocks with an abandon that belies the age of the group. It's hard to believe that a CD that is so enthusiastic and vibrant is from a group that has been around for over 20 years.

Some songs are kind of lame. This isn't a CD of winners from beginning to end. Also, El Cuarteto employs a kind of rap style on some songs that would seem awkward coming from a group with less talent, but they manage to pull it off.

This CD can rock. Good hooks. Interesting lyrics. A very good example of how good Spanish pop/rock can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best latin band, June 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Raro (Audio CD)
This is a very interesting latin rock band, melting indie and hip hop, with acid rather crazy lyrics, Raro ("Strange") is a nicely produced record, if you like rock in a different point of view, listen and agree with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Raro, August 11, 2009
This review is from: Raro (Audio CD)
One of the best CDs I've listened to so far. If you're into Latin American Rock music - this is one of the discs that should not be missing in your collection. This Uruguayan band manages to combine various styles in a masterly way - the outcome you should check out yourselves. you won't regret it... Best songs of the disc: Track No 2 (Hoy estoy raro), and Track No5 (Pobre Papa)- well, they're my personal favorites but the rest of the disc is just as good! Enjoy!
