Update:27SEP2014: This unit stopped working. RAVpower/Suvalley has sent a new unit. They stand behind their products.
I will update the review when I get the new unit which may take awhile since I live outside the US and things take a while to get here.

I opened the dead unit and discovered a small circuit board for charging, voltage conversion and % charge display.
Inside I found 5 Samsung ICR18650-28A (2800mah cell reviewed here: Li-Ion batteries which are a high quality cell suited very well to this application. Measured capacity is ~2630 mah X5 in this application.
The fault lies in Samsung, not in RAVPower, as these batteries are rated at a total of 14,000 mah but deliver ~13,150 mah.
Since no one markets these products taking into account the conversion losses of 15-35% all ratings are approximate anyway.
5 batteries are $29.75 at Fasttech, which has good prices on batteries, so the price for this pack is quite good.

I purchased this unit Feb 25,2014 and started using it in late March.
This unit is beautifully designed physically and the controls and displays are excellent.
It's obvious they went to some effort in this devices design.
When I received it I thought, wow, what a great power bank, which it is in many respects.
It's honestly rated, and a very good value if the cables were any good.
Even with the charging problem it's still a good value.
The 14000 mah in the batteries provides ~10,000 mah out @1A which is about 70% efficiency which is as good or better than most power banks.

Real-world capacity is always significantly lower than the advertised capacity.

Have been using this for months, without complaint, to give extra life to a smart phone with an aging battery. This unit has no problem delivering several full charges to an HTC One X.

Prior to this we purchased several packs like this from different brands, all were defective and simply did not work.

The flashlight feature is an added bonus for emergencies. At full charge I imagine this pack could keep that little LED on a long time.

RAVPower 14000
I do a lot of testing of various batteries and this one has proven to be at the top of the list, but i will break out the details first.

Finish: It has a slick white acrylic finish. It looks very nice, but it’s not my favorite kind of finish for practical use. These finishes can become slick/slippery, but on the other end they tend to avoid or at least high scratches better than matte finishes.

Ports: The battery sports 2 USB output ports rated at 1A and 2A (2.1A). In the newer batteries they are releasing them with 2 ports both rated for 2.4A and the battery puts out what is needed. The setup on this battery is good, and while the separate ports shows its age a bit, it still performs very nicely. It will charge all of your devices well. On the input side it is only rated at 1A where newer devices are now using 2A inputs. This just means you can expect this battery to take well over a half a day to charge (roughly 14-16 hours).
Indicator Lights: The battery does come with 4 nice indicator lights showing the % of battery charge, details match the description. The indicator stays off while the pack is charging a device which generally a good thing as it means no power is used for the LEDs and no extra heat is being generated.
Auto-on: This battery does not feature Auto-on charging. This is a feature common on many similar batteries where it automatically starts to charge the device as soon as the USB port is plugged into the battery. On this battery you have to press a button to start the charge.

This thing is awesome!! I was planing on getting one at some point, but when i was going to be traveling in the car with 3 others friends to Boston for PAX East 2014, witch is a 13 hour car ride for us, without a working car outlet so, that immediately changed my plans on how soon i bought this. During the trip, even though 1 other person has a much smaller external battery, everyone used mine a few times. The driver for Google maps, charged his phone to full from 30% about twice, passenger since he was providing us music for the ride, half charge, my friend who was next to me charged his iPhone from 20%, about half way there i started to charge mine about 30% and charged my PS Vita to full from about 20%.It was used it more than what i stated, but just trying to give an idea. When we got there, it was at about 25% charge left and i let it charge from that time till the next day and the light was still saying it was charging but it showed it was nearly full. It takes a long time to fully charge. At the event, i used it all 3 days and it even had enough juice to let strangers charge up a bit! When we left for home, our devices were a lot lower on juice, so we ended up draining it out entirely, on phones, my PS Vita and a Microsoft Surface RT tablet... 12 hours later, about 20 miles away from my home.

This Charger is amazing for $40 bucks and you absolutely needn't look no farther then this one if you need a lengthly battery life for under $45 bucks
