This review is from: RAW Pipeline: Revolutionary Techniques to Streamline Digital Photo Workflow (A Lark Photography Book) (Paperback)
This is a serious book for serious photographers. That said, nobody does a better job of breaking down and standardizing digital workflow than Ted Dillard. The guy is a freaking guru. The material is hard core, but the presentation is simple and direct. The methods described in this book have become the foundation of my professional studio.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is how to get the most out of digital photo technology, September 1, 2009
This review is from: RAW Pipeline: Revolutionary Techniques to Streamline Digital Photo Workflow (A Lark Photography Book) (Paperback)
Ted Dillard has produced a book that weaves together good practices for shooting, managing, editing and printing digital photos. Anyone interested in getting the best possible results from a good digital camera should read it.

Dillard lays out an organized and straightforward workflow, and he explains the value of each step he takes. Dillard set up the workflow for commercial photography. Since professional photographers can't afford to waste time or lose images, it's both quick and bomb-proof.

I recommend it to anyone who shrinks from shooting RAW. It explains the advantages, and shows how straightforward RAW can be. I've been shooting RAW for a good while and use adjustment layers, masks and smart objects, I still found it useful to read Dillard's overview of how the technologies support each other to produce great results.

In the end, that's what I like best about the book: Dillard's priority is the photo. He's enthusiastic about technology, but only because it serves photography. He illustrates RAW Pipeline with his own photos, and it's clear that he's a photographer first and last.
