3.0 out of 5 stars more toy like than the other HT boats, January 18, 2008

This review is from: 23" RC Destroyer War Battle Ship (Toy)
I recently purchased on of these (On EBAY I think). It is functionally similar to the other "HT" radio control ships out there (see my other reviews,). Each of the two motors are controlled independently (forward and back) on off with no proportional control (throttle). It is less of a scale model and more toy like than the other choices. I have not been able to find a real life ship that it may have been modeled after so I have not yet figured out its actual scale. It works well and has the safety feature that prevents the props from turning unless the ship in the water that some of other ones have. If I was to make a choice for the money I think the destroyer HT-2879 is the better item if the prices are similar.

Up Date: 03/14/08

Upon closer examination I have determined that this "battleship", unlike the other "HT" boats I have reviewed is not a scale model of any particular ship. If fact the super structure appears to be a hodgepodge of parts from the other models. For example the bridge / main deck house is mostly from the "Smasher" destroyer model and the helicopter is from the "Challenger" aircraft carrier model. So you end up with something that is not a consistent scale even within itself. I am having fun modifying my into some thing that looks more scale ...kind of a generic Cruiser. As a toy this model should work well as it's relatively high beam to length ratio should make it fairly stable.

For a more scale looking Low price RC battleship look for the "1/360 battleship Bismarck" with minor modifications it can be made into a very scale looking 1/350 scale RC model of the famous battleship. Don't bother with EBay for this one, with shipping you will over pay. There are some other online retailers that carry it for a total price of around $50.00.

This review is from: 23" RC Destroyer War Battle Ship (Toy)
The HT-3826 so called R/C Battleship as a previous reviewer noted is a paradox. If you are buying this as a "R/C toy" then what follows will be of little interest to you but, for those of you who, like me, like buying "off-the-shelf" R/C warship models and do visual mods so they reflect the real thing then , read on. This HT R/C warship as another reviewer noted does not match anything past or present. I found though that by reversing the superstructure so that the superstructure turret now faces the "front" and, several items are removed from said structure and, the Helo is removed from the stern, said HT-3826 "Battleship" now looks very much like a late version of a World War 2 "Baltimore Class" U.S. Navy Heavy Cruiser, based on WW2 ship book photos! I could do some more "super detailing" but for now I am pleased with the surface mods made. My only remaining problem now is the question of motor reliability. This is my third HT R/C warship model, of the other two, years later one is still running strong while the other's one of two motors failed soon after purchasing it! One of my operating buddies who also owns several of the HT R/C warships has had the same problem! I will do a operation review update this Spring when the HT-3826 "Heavy Cruiser" does it's "sea trials" :-), at the local pond with friends operating other R/C warships. Keeping my fingers crossed on this unit, hoping it will go the distance because it look's so good as a Baltimore Class Heavy Cruiser.
