5.0 out of 5 stars My Son Loves it
My 8 year old boy is a Titanic history nut so when he opened the box up on his birthday last month he was so happy. He has taken it out on the water and the only issue is the battery life and the time it takes to recharge

3.0 out of 5 stars Less than impressed
I gave this model to my son as a Christmas gift. When he opened it, he was thrilled. However, when we attempted to charge the battery we discovered that the charger was not compatible with the battery pack. It was unclear whether this was due to a missing part, or just a packing error. In any event, I e-mailed the company from whom the model came (Amazing Tech Depot)...

I gave this model to my son as a Christmas gift. When he opened it, he was thrilled. However, when we attempted to charge the battery we discovered that the charger was not compatible with the battery pack. It was unclear whether this was due to a missing part, or just a packing error. In any event, I e-mailed the company from whom the model came (Amazing Tech Depot) to notify them of the problem and arrange for a replacement charger. It has been more than a week, and still no reply to the e-mail. Fortunately, I was able to find a charger at a local electronics retailer and charge the battery pack. The model now works fine, but it cost an additional $20 to correct the problem. Ultimately, the model was OK, but the customer service from the retailer was very poor.

I was hoping to build the 1:200 model of the TITANIC, but due to cost and size limitations, I could not purchase it and decided to get the 1:325. I read a few reviews and found out that others had indeed made some modifications to their models to make it more accurate, so was not shocked to find that the model's more-toy-like and less-historical-model-like quality was not exaggerated by the hobbyist who had modified his. I have been spending a month or so dismantling, painting, re-ballasting, etc. and that in itself was fun just to achieve a true Titanic-like quality. It's perfect for someone like me who has no knowledge of R/C or LED and can work from that up rather than having to construct everything from the ship and its wiring. A few parts are now of a concern regarding future access to the hull (many of the screws were hidden under heavily glued cranes and bollards) and maintaining the hull as watertight (it partially flooded the first time) but it's all fixable with hobbying skills and prior Titanic-modeling experience.
