1.0 out of 5 stars Worked great until it broke after 1 year
We enjoyed the TV for a year (the Guide+ was great), but at 11 months the picture would cut out (black screen) and now, 14 months after we bought it, the TV is useless: sound but no picture. The first forum I checked had a report of 3 similar RCA TVs with the same problem in the last month: this is a common problem with large-screen RCA direct-view TVs. Repair will be...

If yon want great sound get a home theater thats what they are for. Pleanty of hook ups for VCR, DVD/SAT, cable, video games. This tv also looks great nice siver finish, the power, channel and volume buttons are on top of the tv out of sight. The remote is pretty stanard, it is universal, and some glow in the dark. Also, with this RCA tv you get Guide+ Gold. You put a headphone like plug in the jack on the back oif the tv, then place the end of it in front of your VCR or Cable Box. After a 24 hour "download time" you have access to eletronic tv guide. his is a good feature if you know about Sat/ or digital cable tv guides. However it does read my digital signal, you of course dont get extra channels but it will tell you what is on your digital cable even if you dont hav the digital cable box. Slighty annoying to scroll thru 12 HBO 8 Showtimes to find out whats on. But you can block channels from from comming up on the guide. I would reccomend this TV for bacholor pads(as i plan to take this TV with me), second or third tvs or for any one who wants a good gaming TV at a good price.

The first forum I checked had a report of 3 similar RCA TVs with the same problem in the last month: this is a common problem with large-screen RCA direct-view TVs. Repair will be $150 to $300. A TV should last ten years, not one year.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mine lasted 18 months!, July 15, 2004

This tv was great until it broke. Recently, the tv would occasionally not get a picture when I would turn it on. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't (sound was fine). Well tonight in the middle of watching it, we lost the picture and started to get a loud high pitched screech. I had to unplug it to get it to stop. I tried plugging it back in a couple of times, and the high pitch sound (and black screen) is still there.

This is the last RCA I will ever buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money., January 12, 2006

Mine only lasted until the extended warranty ran out then it blew up like all the others. This was the first time I had laid out $600+ for a TV. TV's with a name like RCA should last longer than 3 years. Now there are reviews on the web all saying the same thing. Back then when it came out there were no reviews so we only had the name to go on. WHAT A MISTAKE.
