5.0 out of 5 stars Big antenna, good reception
This thing is huge, but it definitely works as advertised. Now I receive 31 channels, vs 24 I used to receive with my 20 year old one (which broke). I receive signal from some stations I didn't know existed. The included mast only measures around 5 ft, so you will probably need a longer one to install the antenna at a proper height. Sometimes I need to rotate it in order...

3.0 out of 5 stars Technical Review, medium gain antenna?
The VHF TV channel range begins at channel 2, roughly about 54 MHz (requiring long antenna elements; the individual horizontal lengths of aluminum spaced from one another) and continues up to channel 13 ending at about 216 MHz needing far shorter antenna elements. Above the VHF broadcast band the television channels begin again in the UHF range which start at channel 14...

I receive signal from some stations I didn't know existed. The included mast only measures around 5 ft, so you will probably need a longer one to install the antenna at a proper height. Sometimes I need to rotate it in order to receive the signal from certain channels. It all depends on where you live. Visit www.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/ to learn which channels are available in your area and where do you need to point your antenna at. I live between a lot of mountains and indoor antennas are useless, so if you need to buy an outdoor antenna with good range, this is right the one.

Easy Installation = B (Try not to bend the elements. Look for a big place (16ft x 16ft) to install it)

I bought several small indoor fancy looking antennae and none of them receive all the channels from about 20+ miles. Always wary of these big antennae's I finally ordered this one after looking at the reviews online and other sites.
I would say that the reception is the best i have seen in a long time. My house is almost 40miles from the transmitting tower and I recieve all the major channles. Except for some channels that transmit at low power or at different angles that the rest of the Major broadcasters the reception is pretty good. I didn't even know that those low power channels even existed or were free to begin with.

Good and cheap investment that has really paid off. You don;t need to mount it all the way at the top of the House. Just make sure there is sufficient clearance of about 30-40 ft open space from where this is installed. I just installed it right on top of the backyard door and there are some trees that are taller than this antennae in my neighbours backyard, but still no problem. Good luck with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST Antenna I ever used, August 6, 2010

This review is from: RCA ANT3036WR Outdoor 30 Element 113 1/4 - Inch Boom Antenna (Electronics)
Most of my life I have used little bunny ears to get over the air channels. After the switch to digital singal I lost all but two channels. I went to [...] and found the transmitters are over 61 miles away. First I bought a cheap outdoor antenna from ebay which broke after one use cheap for a reason I guess. Next I bought this big big antenna. It works great it is picking up channels in the violet zone and over 61 miles away without a pre amp. I live in a valley around some tall trees and a big church and my singal strength is about 38 % from the 61 mile transmitter now I get over 14 channels $55.30 one time beats paying $47.75 a month for cable. I have this antenna mounted outside on the second floor with a 15 foot mast. I bet this winter when the trees loose leaves the singal will only get better. I might try a pre amp too see if pick up any more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Technical Review, medium gain antenna?, March 21, 2011
This review is from: RCA ANT3036WR Outdoor 30 Element 113 1/4 - Inch Boom Antenna (Electronics)
The VHF TV channel range begins at channel 2, roughly about 54 MHz (requiring long antenna elements; the individual horizontal lengths of aluminum spaced from one another) and continues up to channel 13 ending at about 216 MHz needing far shorter antenna elements. Above the VHF broadcast band the television channels begin again in the UHF range which start at channel 14 at about 470 MHz (relatively short elements) and at the upper end ends at about 890 MHz for channel 83, with extremely short elements. My concern is that this antenna is relatively short for a LPDA antenna. Maybe this antenna covers all of the channels, but just has lower gain than the other log periodic type of dipole antennas I see designed for TV which have far more individual elements are thus are much longer.

RCA, if you want your potential customers to be able to intelligently choose between products this information is very important, please specify the channel range of you product and also the gain of the antenna. The only reason I can think the info would be missing is if this company does not want you to know this antenna has a limited gain in the range of frequencies it can be used in and with directional antennas, gain is the name of the game!

Having written the above, please note this antenna may pick up enough signal across the whole television broadcast range if you have enough power from the transmitters hitting it, if close enough, but might be lacking in gain for some channels if you are a great distance from the stations.

This antenna did everything I was expecting. I used a 10 foot piece of conduit to raise it up so I could get 17 ch.

American made product. Goes further than the 65 miles advertised.
Tall Lumber Pines, do not effect the receiption. Has to have real strong winds to effect the signal. All & all, best outside antenna, if you do not have cable, etc. Highly recommend.

This is a great antenna for the price and I can get all the channels that are offered in my area. Once installed you just face it at an angle that gives you the best reception and no more cable bills. I am very happy with it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an outdoor antenna as it works great.

Antenna does what I wanted it to do, mast is small so I replaced it with a larger one. Price on Amazon was the best I could find by over $20.

I am still reviewing this antenna, I do get a lot more channels with this antenna so far but I need to get a different rotator, the one I have seems to be too small for this antenna and then I will finish reviewing this antenna.

The antenna is very easy to assemble and is well made. I receive over 20 channels now perfectly clear including digital tv. With the Roku box I have thousands of programs to watch now. Goodbye Directv.
