This is basically no different than the 401, save for the clock. While the product is advertised as having 46 dB of gain, the box says 30 dB. But it works, and since I'm in an odd location, I can get more channels than I could with the 401. Plus, hard to find a decorative clock for 8 dollars (the difference between 401 and 501)

Since purchasing the RCA 501 I've been extremely happy with it. I even ordered one for a family member and they've been just as pleased also. This was a great buy! It's being used on our HDTV's and the picture quality and price are outstanding!

I got 3 channels with this antenna and 2 had bad signal. I then moved antenna outside and it picked up more channels but not much better signal. I live 18 miles from the stations and this is advertised to work better. I returned this bad antenna to the store. Buy the DB4 outdoor antenna or the DB2 and use inside. You will like these better.
