I've been a blu-ray user since 2005 and I entered through my PS3 wow!!!! Portable Blu-rays have been sparse/limited ablilities and very expensive UNTIL RCA produced a very economical blu-ray player at $349. This was very competitive and reasonable to spark my curiosity.

I did heavy research and was skeptical (at first) a year later I looked again what was available and the cost.!!!!! RCA's price dropped over $100 and now even more soo I said lets see this hype and if this player really lives up to its claim.

BOTTOMLINE: This Blu-ray portable/main (jack of all trades unit) does almost everything perfectly!!!

In a nutshell;

PROS: 10" screen produces an incredible HD picture (1024x576 lines), excellent sound, and vivid color!! Has an internal battery that holds from 2 1/2 (using screen) to 4 hours (without screen use)of viewing per charge!!!

NOTE: without screen use is for external HDMI cable house big HD screen tv.

True 1080p HDMI output to hdtv or projector!! Note: this is the ONLY PORTABLE that provides full/true 1080p HDMI output picture and sound (5.1 & 7.1 dolby). So this can also be your home base Blu-ray player (using AC adapter) with extensive full function remote control!!!

Cons; these are weak cons but after-all they are still there. Something you won't use for the most part. Carrying case used for a player case to a headrest. very flimsy and frustrating setting it up. Note: most headrests won't work effectively. Ethernet output N/A ! NOTE: going to RCA software up grades lists BRC3108 N/A at this time. This feature was for future applications, maybe?

This player is very flimsy construction makes it NOT a CHILD player (under 10 unless they are very responsible)

NOTE: to use the HDMI output you must buy your own cable. It is worth it the output is amazing just like the big boys!!!

I recommend this as your home/portable or introductory blu-ray player it does all the visual/sound wonderfully. It can go everywhere, versatile and quiet!!!

Seeing and listening is the proof and believe me this the REAL DEAL!!!! Buy NOW! NOW! NOW! Enjoy!!!!!! Ps - the USB flash port for pictures is great too!!!

Very impressive picture quality on a portable Blu-ray player. I'm impressed and pleased with this device. I would happily recommend it to anyone considering a portable Blu-ray player.

This is a pretty good blu ray player, but if you are buying it for children there are some drawbacks. There are a lot of functions that you have to use the remote control for - such as doing anything but playing the movie from the start. You can't select a scene without the remote. This is a problem for smaller children or if you don't want to use the remote on the road, in the car etc. Also, it does NOT remember where you leave off if you stop a movie part way through. This is a problem with kids who only watch it for short periods at a time. Add this to not easily getting back to the right scene and it is frustrating - especially when most devices remember where the disc leaves off.

Otherwise it has great sound, a large screen, and a great picture.

UPDATE: Finally figured out how to get it back to where it left off. Very tricky, but if you hit pause, then stop, then turn the player off it will remember. This helps a lot and would have me upgrade my original rating to a 4 star - but for the fact that it took a long time to figure out something that should work automatically.

This is a great portable blu ray player,vivid color,fast start up,can be hooked up to your tv with a HDMI CABLE AND THE TV MUST HAVE A HDMMI CONNECTION.WORKS GREAT IN THE CAR OR ON AN AIRLINER FLYING CROSS COUNTRY,IVE HAD MINE 3 MONTHS AND LOVE IT,BY THE WAY IT WILL ALSO PLAY STANDARD DVDS.

Our of all the reviews I've read on amazon, this product seemed to have gotten the best reviews. I had a few issues out of the box with it. You have to make sure that the unit is fully charged or you have it properly plugged into a working outlet. If there are any power surges or issues with how it's plugged in, you will have problems playing blu-ray discs. Other than rather long load time for Blu-ray discs I have had no issues with this item so far. I have yet to try the HDMI out port. I've heard that there are sound issues with hooking the unit up this way. I will see. Other than that, it is a good player for travel and home. I'm probably going to be using it for work and for travel/kids use when motoring.

The design is sleek and stylish. The functionality of the machine seems to be quick and effective out of the box. I read one review where on some movies, it requires the use of the remote. One suggestion for RCA is that they should have installed directional arrows on the unit itself so that you wouldn't need the remote to navigate certain functions of the disc IE: scene selection and even starting the disc. This comes into play when you have multiple version of a movie on a disc IE 2d/3d version/ digital copy etc. That is simply a design flaw I will learn to live with as this is a decent price for a portable blu-ray player.

I purchases this for my daughter, and she loves it. The quality is good, and picture looks great. The seat holder does not work to good, I am in the process researching and buying one to replace the one it comes with.

It is very basic. It works well for a decent price. I wish it came with internet connection option like wifi.

If you require a portable Blu Ray unit, the RCA BRC3109 is tops for the price! My old regular DVD's look super now, too!

Right out of the box this player did not work. Every disk took forever to load and then the "bad disk" message popped up. I called customer service who said this was a common problem and I should purchase a $30 blue ray cleaner to "clean the system". Seriously!? I don't think you should have to clean something before you have even been able to use it. I am sending this back and paying a little bit more for a better player. No more RCA products for me. Ever.

The image is good. When HDMI connected to an external screen, the video and the sound is very good.

When used by itself the sound from the internal speakers is quite weak.

The video image is good for the screen size.

It should cost less.
