I looked around for a digital camera for awhile- i found this one for a great price. The battery problem everyone talks about is no big deal. just get Nimh 1600 batteries and your set. They seem to last 3 times longer than alkalines. The economy setting produces excellent quality shots
I have tried out many digital cameras. This takes amazingly clear shots, even at night! Many, many cameras take grainy quality night pics, this one is crystal clear, even works w/o flash at night to take dark pics- great!

Pros:
- Great fit in your hand, easy to hold
- Flash pictures at night are absolutly great! Lights up everything within 50 ft!
- TV out setting, easy usb connect, Great Software!
- Nimh AA batteries last through 50 flashes, 100+ day shots
- Smooth zoom, great digital zoom quality
- Comes with EVERYTHING YOU NEED
- Uses cheap Compact Flash, any type!
- Easy to use!

Cons:
- No MPEG video mode :(
- A little heavy, but not bad!
- lens cap easy to lose

All in all great camera! Great Quality, great proffesional looking too!

This digital camera is one of the best digital camera i ever used,it got long range and clear display. But it used too much energy, four duracell ultra mp3 batteries would only last 1 to 2 hours. Anyway,dispite the cons, the pros of this camera is much better.

I've had mine for about 2 weeks. Have taken hundreds of pictures. Simple to use. Easy instructions. Owners manual is in English. It's not one of those instruction manuals that has 3 pages of impossible to understand English, and 40 pages of other languages. I read through it ONCE, and completely understood everything I needed to know about this camera.

It's a joy to use. Takes great pictures that look like you used a film camera. I know one of the complaints is battery life, but I haven't had to replace batteries yet. If you use the included AC adapter when transferring pics to computer, it helps save battery power. The pictures transfer very quickly to the computer.

I love this camera and haven't found one thing I dislike about it.

I had a crummy digital camera so I looked hard before buying a new one. I bought this camera a few months ago and I LOVE it !!!
It is VERY easy to use (which is great because I hate to read instructions) and it takes the best pictures I have ever taken. The only drawback I have found with this camera is that it does eat batteries BIG TIME. But there is a real simple solution to that. I was able to get 4 AA recharable batteries and the recharger (...). And so I can just charge them back up whenever they run out. Oddly enough they also seem to last a lot longer (before needing recharged) than regular batteries lasted.
I bought a 64 mb card (...) and it will hold over 100 photos without downloading inbetween.
I got a hp photosmart 1218 printer and when taking the pics with this camera and printing them on that printer with hp photo paper my pictures look better than most any professionals that I have seen. I would recommend this camera to anyone.

I purchased two of the RCA digital cameras 11/02, one as a gift for my son. They took very nice photos. Exactly one year after purchase, my battery compartment cover cracked and the camera became useless. The same thing happened to my son's camera at almost the same time. As the covers were attached only by two small screws, I assumed (my first mistake)I would be able to order replacement parts and have two working cameras. I got nothing but the run-around from RCA customer "service," and the generous "offer" of allowing me to buy two replacement cameras for a couple hundred dollars. They refused to allow me just to buy the parts. I will never buy another RCA product and will make sure as many poeple know it as possible.

Good camera, great photos, very easy to use. You must add a 128mb card. This card gives about 120 high quality photos, 350 medium and nearly 1000 low quality photos. I don't understand the complaints about battery life, I have taken over 100 shots on the batteries that came with the camera and I still show a maximum charge in the status window. I have viewed the photos on the LCD window and have run slideshows on the television (great option) transferred the shots to a VCR tape and downloaded twice to my computer all on this one set of batteries. I have a set of rechargeable nickel metal hydrides waiting to install. The only reason I did not give five stars is because the camera has locked up on me twice and I had to pull the battery lid to shut it down and "reboot". I will probably have to send it back to the factory to correct this problem.

The RCA CDS-6300 camera is a piece of junk and RCA knows it. We all know about the horrible battery life and that is to be somewhat expected. The pictures were good but the major issue is the battery door which fails. It would be simple to engineer a new door for retrofitting. They claim too costly so they ignore it and tell you that the only thing you can do is to purchase a replacement camera. Contacting customer service is a joke either through email or through their 800 number. We need to get together as a group to make them stand behind their product. For what I have spent on this camera, I could have purchased a decent Sony.

I purchased my camera through my retail electronics store (...) The picture quality in fine and normal is great. Ecomony is usable for websites. I wish it came with a larger compactflash card, but that's easily purchased. I also wished the access doors felt a bit more beefy, but it will hold up OK. I heartily recommend the CDS6300. 4 1/2 stars!

I bought this model in Dec. 2001. It is now Oct.2002. As soon as I bought it I inquired about a larger MB memory card. Store told me that they discontinued that part number and they were going to make a new one. There is still no replacements. Bought different universal cards and none worked in this camera. It started to freeze and discolored pics. The mini movie feature never worked, it only showed 16 different pics. at the same time, in a colliage. Sometimes when unit was turned on the lens would not slide out into position, or when turned off it would not slide back in the housing. Now the camera will not turn on, even when plugged into wall outlet. Now, the camera is discontinued entirely, and I see why! I just bought a Little Tikes Digital Camera for kids [price] and it works better (sickening!). Signed, S.O.L. in Upstate N.Y. :o(

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR GLOWING REVIEW OF THIS CAMERA. YOUR INFO CONVINCED ME TO PURCHASE THIS CAMERA AFTER TRYING THREE OTHER BRANDS. I HAVE SHOT OVER 200 PICTURES AND MY ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT IS THAT THE FLASH DOESN'T SEEM TO GO OUT FAR ENOUGH IN DARKER SITUATIONS. OTHERWISE, I WILL PUT ITS NORMAL QUALITY PICTURES UP AGAINST ANY.
I HAVE NOT FOUND THE BATTERIES TO BE A PROBLEM AS SOME HAVE REPORTED BUT BECAUSE OF A COUPLE OF THE REVIEWS, I BOUGHT A BATTERY CHARGER AND 8 BATTERIES AT SAM'S CLUB FOR 19.95. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I'M READY FOR ANY SITUATIONS. OTHER THAN MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE FLASH DISTANCE, IT'S A 5 STAR CAMERA.
