5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get much easier!
I purchased one of these when we wound up with an extra DVD player due to a TiVo purchase. (The TiVo has one built in! Anyway...) We moved the DVD player to our bedroom TV which is an older set--old enough that it lacks the required connections that would make it compatible with our DVD player.

2.0 out of 5 stars RCA quality strikes again.
Yep, I thought $30 was a pretty good price. I thought $25.99 on sale was better, so I bought it. Good looking, versatile, easy to use. We really liked it (frankly, we never thought about it again) for the 10 *** Months *** that it lasted. Yes, correct, months. But what can you do, there aren't a whole lot to choose from. Found a replacement for $20. Hooked it with...

5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get much easier!, November 15, 2004
This review is from: RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input (Electronics)
I purchased one of these when we wound up with an extra DVD player due to a TiVo purchase. (The TiVo has one built in! Anyway...) We moved the DVD player to our bedroom TV which is an older set--old enough that it lacks the required connections that would make it compatible with our DVD player.

One snazzy feature of this unit is its autodetect feature. It doesn't have an on/off switch--it just waits for signal to come through from the DVD player. Once it detects a signal, it turns itself on and starts outputting signal to the TV. This is especially nice for our situation, because who wants to get out from under the covers to turn on the RF modulator? Not me.

If you have an older TV that's still going strong, you really can't go wrong with this RF modulator. It's small enough that you can plug it in, tuck it behind your TV, and forget about it. I've even recommended it to my sister for the old TV in her basement that she wants to use for workout DVDs.

Keep an eye out at your local Mega-Lo-Mart for this unit--we found it for $10.

5.0 out of 5 stars why buy a brand new TV?, October 6, 2004
This review is from: RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input (Electronics)
For a mere thirty bucks this nifty little thing lets you hook up a VCR, DVD player, video game, etc. to that ancient-yet-still-going TV you've grown very attached to but which doesn't have any RCA input plugs.

And don't worry, you can still keep your external antenna---it plugs right into the back of this box!

Phillips also makes RF modulators, I got mine from Walmart for the same price, it's got prettier Channel3/Channel4 lighs. : )

I'm sure all those slimy TV salespeople at Best Buy or Circuit City don't want you to find out about this device, though!

Found a replacement for $20. Hooked it with no prob, same as before. It worked great for 4 hours and 35 minutes. Then it turned off, never to function again. Good luck finding one that works for a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product to date, October 24, 2005
This review is from: RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input (Electronics)
I purchase this device over a month ago and it's still performing like a charm. The setup was real easy and I love the auto switching function. I paid the price that Amazon is presently charging and that price is unbeatable. I noticed one of the other reviewers rated this product as "crap". If this product should quit prematurely, I will update my review accordingly. I'm very pleased with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator, February 24, 2006
This review is from: RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input (Electronics)
The RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator did it's job and did it well...even after hooking cables up incorrectly the first time. (I didn't pay close enough attention to what I was doing.) It was actually a very simple set up. It took roughly 30 minutes from the time I opened the package, read the instructions, moved devices around, hooked up the cables (twice - I made a mistake the first time, remember?), did a systems check and put everything back in it's place. I used standard component cables for hookup and the picture quality was very good from all three signal sources: Cable, VCR and DVD player.

Bottom line: I am thoroughly pleased with this device.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk, September 10, 2005
This review is from: RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input (Electronics)
This item is not worth it. Picture is affected by all types of interference. Is not usable most of the time at night. Have set on channel 3 and a tv station 150 miles away overides the input signal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great item, November 28, 2004
This review is from: RCA CRF910 Auto Switching RF Modulator with Gold - Plated Connectors, Coaxial and S-Video Input (Electronics)
I had a 1995 tv that could not be hooked up to my Ps2. then, i got this, and it worked like a charm. VERY VERY VERY easy to use and install, and most importantly, it just plain works. Inlcudes the coaxial cable required to hook to tv. The instruction guide is useless, but honestly, you dont need it

Works great at first! But just over a year later... it bit the dust. Hmm.... ironic.... the Warranty only covers the first year. I would have thought I just recieved a bad one, but then I was over at a friends house, and we wanted to watch a movie, but his RF modulator stopped working a few weeks prior. Low and behold... same exact model and same exact symptoms. The red light turns off after being plugged in for 1 second. If you want something that will last for less than a year, get this, otherwise, get something other than RCA.

Works great. I forget it is even there. I like that it turns off with the DVD player. No extra buttons to push.

Other reviews said this thing had a habit of not working.. They were right. This was dead right out of the box. Thinking it was a good deal I've ordered two more and will soon see if there is a pattern. But my first experience was NOT GOOD. Just like others reported.
