Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The DRC350N is not only stylish, but highly functional, playing multiple types of DVDs and CDs. Progressive scanning provides top-of-the-line video quality with high-definition or HD-ready TVs, while the player's Digital PhotoView feature lets you enjoy a custom slide show of digital photos when using a JPEG-encoded CD-R or CD-RW. The unit is compatible with DVD-Video, VCD/SVCD, DVD+W, DVD+R, DVD-W, DVD+RW, DVD-R, audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-encoded discs, as well as both 3-inch and standard 5-inch sizes.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DRC350N stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Composite- and S-video outputs maximize compatibility with nearly any television.

A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. The player passes both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals through its digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. If you don't have a surround receiver or six-channel speaker setup, you can still make every movie night the ultimate experience: 3D Virtual Surround simulates surround sound through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on your TV). Playback options include MultiSpeed Smooth Scan (forward and reverse, up to 100x playback), MultiSpeed Slow Motion (forward and reverse, down to .0625x speed), bookmarking (up to nine), zoom (up to 4x), and slide show (for JPEG images). Supplied accessories include a composite-video AV cable, instruction manual, and a multi-brand remote control that operates the DVD player and RCA and GE televisions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost worth 5 stars, but barely missed the mark., March 4, 2004
This review is from: RCA DRC350N Progressive-Scan DVD Player (Electronics)
I have this DVD player hooked up with the RCA F38310 HDTV and the RCA RT-2600 Home Theater system. The quality of the DVD picture is fabulous, and the VCD playback makes it that much more worthwhile to me. The JPEG slideshow feature is slow, and that's why it doesn't get 5 stars. I've had no problems with any CD's, even ones from the mid 80's.

3.0 out of 5 stars Optimistic & Slightly Disappointed, March 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: RCA DRC350N Progressive-Scan DVD Player (Electronics)
When selecting this model, it seemed to have everything. My initial interest was the diversity of disc types, including ability to view JPEG photos. It plays DVD's just fine, however, I have found some older audio CD's that would occasionally skip. This could have been due to the quality of the CD. The JPEG files that I downloaded from my computer to a disc do work, but seem painfully slow in a wipe-down display. Everything hooked up easily to my other equipment and that was a plus. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars One year later; looking for a new DVD player!, January 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: RCA DRC350N Progressive-Scan DVD Player (Electronics)
This DVD player was a dissapointment from the beginning. It has always skipped and paused with DVD playback. Now, one year into it's life and just past the warranty dates, the tray will no longer close completely and it does not recognize any discs. My advise would be to keep looking.
