The DVD player--which supports audio CD, CD-R/RW, DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, MP3-CD, VCD, and SVCD formats--includes such playback functions as multi-speed fast-forward and rewind and multi-speed slow motion. Viewers can also zoom into selected frames, a nice function for detail-oriented users who want a closer look at an image. From a VCR perspective, the unit's four-head recorder ensures high-quality video images whether you're recording from analog TV or DVD. The device also incorporates VCR Plus+, which makes it easy to record any scheduled program in just a few seconds, and an auto-clock-set feature that prevents the blinking "12:00" display.

The unit excels from an audio perspective, too, thanks to the SRS TruSurround function, which simulates the surround sound experience of a six-speaker home theater system through a traditional stereo setup. Viewers who own a surround sound receiver can take it one step further and enjoy genuine Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound by employing the DRC6000N's coaxial digital audio output. And though the DVD player doesn't feature progressive scan technology, it does offer a component video output, ensuring the best possible picture when connected to a compatible TV. After returning and reordering the same "refurbished" RCA DRC6000N player already once because of problems with the the combo player, I was without reason somewhat opptimistic that I would finally get a player that worked correctly. But that didn't happen and the player, although it originally worked fine, now won't display anything but a BLUE screen. It won't display a menu, picture or even open up for that matter!!! I will never order another refurbished RCA model--it's been too much of a headache.
