RCA DRC620N 7-Inch LCD Portable DVD Player with 3+ Hour Battery

This DVD is wonderful. It comes with everything that is needed to take this in the car or on an airplane. First, it has a DC power adapter that has a very long cord. Secondly, it comes with a case that attaches to the back of a headrest (without bothering the person who is using that headrest) so your child doesn't need to hold the DVD player to use it. Also, by attaching to the headrest, it is out of the way of kicking feet.

The best part is, the DVD player doesn't need to be taken out of the headrest case in order to change a DVD. The screen opens up (like a diskman would), and you just change DVDs). The headrest case has a top that you can attach to it that also has a pocket to hold some DVDs and the remote that comes with the player.

The only downside to the player is that if you use the sound on the actual player (not headphones), the quality isn't that great, but my two year old isn't that discerning of a movie watcher yet.

We've owned the DVD player for about a month and the battery life is around three hours.

All in all, I highly recommend this DVD player, especially if you have a young child who cannot hold a DVD player for two hours.

I purchased this player at another online retailer and was thrilled with the tablet style, battery life and accessories that make setting it up in the car a real dream. I used it about 1 dozen times on trips over the course of a year only to have it stop working just after the 1-year warranty period. While the disk would spin, and the audio would play, the screen would only work for about 30 seconds along with a loud screeching sound, and then go black. But hey, the screeching stopped. This seemed a little premature to me given it had gotten such light use. My contact with RCA was a dead end, and recommended 'repair' shops are not helpful as they don't actually repair these units, only replace units under warranty. Big Help. I'd never purchase another RCA/Thompson product. Best to go with more expensive higher name brand such as Sony or Phillips....

I returned the first one for a replacement. Both DVD players did not work. The first one did not do a thing, the second one displayed the menu but did not read any DVDs. Maybe I just had extremely bad luck but one thing is obvious: RCA is cutting corners on quality control. These DVD players were never tested before they left the factory.
Amazon has been terrific throughout. They responded within hours not days like other online merchants to my replacement and later refund request and I had a refund within 10 days of mailing the defective DVD player.

We got the unit from Best Buy in December 2005. The first unit failed after very mild use and perhaps 6 hours playing time in a vehicle. We returned it, paying for shipping. The second unit came in in the early spring. After perhaps 3 hours use, while attached to the car adapter, it caught fire with my son barely a foot from it. Returned it again on our dime. The third unit was used less than 4 hours before it began skipping or not playing. Even with a brand new DVD it failed to perform reliably. With that unit we were forced to use the battery only as the vehicle adapter was missing its center post (out of the box that way). After two and a half months of being jerked around by Thomson/RCA, we were told they would not support the unit and that the best they would do is send us a check for $108. After $40 in UPS charges, that leaves us a whopping $68 to spend on another machine. RCA provided VERY POOR customer service, and gave us a VERY POOR QUALITY product. One bad player is a fluke, a second one catching fire is an omen, the third is proof that quality control at the factory stinks. They need to get a new supplier, but in any case, we will never buy an RCA product again, nor will we ever recommend one after the abysmal customer support (and yes, we have two RCA TV's a DVD-R/VCR combo). Never again will we own an RCA. Don't buy this unit (RCA says there are none at their warehouse for replacement and that they do not know if they will receive more for replacement so there may not be any future warranty support for this unit anyway).

I loved the tablet style of this player and it mounted quickly and easily on our headrest. The only problem is we only got about 6 hours out of it before it began skipping and freezing up (not a battery problem). The picture was a little blurry, but tolerable. The sound was not so good, but much better with headphones. It mounts wonderfully in a vehicle, now if it would only play movies!

We have a DVD player in our minivan and I wanted to get something that we could use in my car. I found this at BestBuy and decided to get it b/c the form factor is exactly what I wanted. For the price, you can't beat it. Plus it comes with all you need to install in a vehicle.

Bought this for summer trips, camping etc. For the price quality is excellent, battery life acceptable, and it comes with all the accessories you could need. Volume isn't great, but OK and you can attach two headphones.

I really loved this DVD player. I bought it March 06, it broke about 4 months later and was sent to RCA (Thompson) for repair. They kept it almost four months, but fixed it free. It worked for about 4 more months, and so I sent it back to them. They kept it over four months and finally sent a letter saying it would cost me $85 to fix. So they have had it almost as long as I have and now they want $85. I don't think so, I'm just not that stupid.

I purchased this player for my handicapped (cp and learning/developmental disabilities)6yr old grandson over a year ago. It has been dropped, slid across the floor, opened and closed about a million times to change dvd'd's, sticky with food and on and on. We carry it from the car to restaurants, stores etc... It comes in the house for bedtime. I am amazed at the abuse this machine can take and still work perfectly. Volume is quite loud when turned up and picture is great in a dark room or a sunny car. My grandson takes it with him everywhere. The controls are very easy as he can work them by himself. I would recommend this player to anyone with small children as it can definitely "take a licking" and keep on ticking. Awesome product, exceeded my expectations by 100%.

Plugged this in with great expectation on Christmas morning only to find that the screen would go black after about 30 sec of playing a DVD (with the audio still running). Given other reviews of unit failure, poor quality control and equally poor RCA product support I would not take a chance on this model.
