Combine this system's multisatellite dish antenna with a high-definition receiver and enjoy true HDTV programming. This RCA DIRECTV system's Advanced Program Guide stores up to three days of programming information, so you'll never have to wonder when a favorite program is on. If you can't settle on a program to watch, just turn to Viewing Suggestions. This feature recommends programs based on the topic and theme of previously viewed programs. The satellite receiver is equipped to receive upgrades or modifications to some of its features and functions. With the system's dual-output LNBs, you can expand your DIRECTV system to an additional location in your home by adding a second receiver, without the need for another satellite dish. S-video and composite-video outputs ensure compatibility with nearly any television.

A feature called the Guardian gives parents have the ability to lock out specific channels and set rating and spending limits, and even set specific viewing times for weekdays and weekends. The Scout feature searches the entire program guide to find matches to eight key words or phrases that you enter. AlphaSort ranks the current guide alphabetically, starting with any letter you choose. Go directly to any listed show with the push of a button, or save the show directly as a Scout term.

DIRECTV Interactive television service lets you use the included remote to access up-to-the-minute news, sports, financial information, weather, program trivia, and free offers--as well as shop--all while you watch TV. An accelerated 32-bit processor grants immediate access to all interactive programming features. This system also offers access to DIRECTV PARA TODOS programming (programming sold separately) and includes selectable Spanish and English menus.

There are some terms and conditions with the purchase of this product. There is a limit of one DIRECTV system purchase and installation per customer. Only new residential DIRECTV customers may purchase a system. Buying this item signifies agreement to sign up for one year of DIRECTV programming. receivers must be activated within 45 days by calling (800) DIRECTV [[phone]]. Failure to activate service (or canceling service within one year of subscribing) may result in a $250 charge to the credit card used for the purchase. All returned systems and receivers will be inspected for original parts and access cards. If a receiver is returned without its access card, a $125 restocking fee may be charged to the credit card used for the purchase.

Please don't let one reviewer with a vendetta color your impression of this product or the DIRECTV service. The are a big company and would not be as successful as they are if they didn't have a great product and exemplary customer service.

The product description pretty much says it all, but let me share a few more features with you:

* Dual-output LNBs let you expand the System with a second-room Receiver
* Advanced Program Guide lets you review other options while watching a program
* DIRECTV Interactive television service grants access up-to-the-minute news, sports, financial information, weather, more
* Guardian, Scout, and Alphasort enhance search and viewing options
* Software is upgradeable via satellite

Everything you need to get HD DIRECTV is in this box. The dish, the cables, the dual LNB, receiver, remote, installation hardware, a bunch of manuals...it is all there. You can either save money and install it yourself or have DIRECTV come out and do it for you. My picture clarity increased tenfold after switching to DIRECTV, and I've never had a problem with their customer service. The programming selection (channels) is way better than my old cable providers - there are actually a lot of good things on TV! :o) This system is easy and fun to use and inspired me to upgrade my "home theater system."

This was a good buy for me, that's the best recommendation I can give.

DONT USE DIRECT TV THEY HAVE REAL BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!
