Stylish but Weak,
By
This review is from: RCA Indoor Amplified Tv Antenna (Electronics)
I was able to compare this amplified antenna directly with the Zenith UN-amplifiend indoor HDTV antenna. The Zenith was at least 25% to 50% better at pulling in the weaker stations.
This RCA antenna LOOKS very nice with its wavy styling. But then you have to pull out its rabbit ears and set them askew to pick up a decent signal! That kills the styling advantage. And its soooo touchy about its positioning to pick up weaker stations, you practically have to do a voodoo dance and wave a plucked chicken around the TV to get some stations that the Zenith pulls in with barely any trouble. So don't let your wife talk you into getting the RCA for its looks. Buy the Zenith instead!

Gets all the important channels at an excellent quality.,
This review is from: RCA Indoor Amplified Tv Antenna (Electronics)
I live in Palo Alto, CA, ~30 miles from the stations. With this antenna I receive all the important channels: FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc... in 1080i without any dropouts, the quality is amazing! I keep the rabbit ears tucked in because I'm not interested in the VHF stations, so the styling looks very modern. All in all I get ~45 digital stations and 15 analog. I can get more if I mess with position, but it's perfect as it is now.
This is my first antenna, I cannot compare it to any other, but I'm very satisfied.

Buy Something Else,

This really is a worthless antenna. While it is a sleek looking device, it is poorly constructed. The antenna sits on two prongs/feet that are not fixed to the device. Everytime you adjust or move the antenna, the prongs fall out. It is top heavy and when you extend the rabbit ears in certain ways, the antenna won't stand up on it's own. The reception is not that great; in order to get good reception on some channels, you have to wiggle and move about to get quality. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the cat I was "babysitting" had chewed the antenna cord apart, and I NEVER noticed the difference. I don't think the antenna was even working hardly at all.

I ordered this, hooked it up and I got nothing, even tried an antenna booster..still nothing. Its a brand new TV with dvd player. But the antenna did not work for it. I returned it and had to pay for shipping. So I was out $7.

Got it for Mom and she says it works fine. I have not seen it, but the seller got it to her really fast. I have a different RCA ant that is great. I would stick with RCA for HD ants. Amazon sellers seem to be very reliable.

antenna breaks,

I don't have many good things to say about this product. It looks cool, and it pulls in stations better than a non-amplified antenna.
It is easily broken. the telescoping antennas break off at the base during the frequently needed adjustments. Now mine doesn't even look cool because I have had to replace both antennas with some speaker wire that I had laying around the house. I think the wire actually gets a better signal. My advice is to get a different amplified antenna, anything has to be better than this one.

Stylish and powerful. The best of the three antennas that I tried. In Palo Alto, CA I can get NBC11 with no problem, no matter how this antenna is configured. I can get PBS really well when it is aimed correctly, and some other stations with dropouts about every 10 seconds. I could probably get all the major networks if I put it in a different room, but for now I'm happy with the reception.
It is worth noting that digital/hdtv basically either displays or doesn't. If you get a picture, you can bet it won't be a crappy one. However, if the signal is weak, you may get blips in which the audio stops and video freezes until the TV locks onto the signal again.

The thin atntenna broke in two within the first month. In less than two months both antennaes broke off at the base. Now it pulls in no signals. If I had known it was so fragile I'd have not purchased it. Initially I did get a good reception. none now

Works well like most people say here, but the rabbit ears are quite weak, even if you are careful with your electronics equipment. RCA does have a 1 year warranty, which I am using now to replace my broken antenna.

I tried several different antennas in my apartment and this one worked the best. It even beat out the highly touted Terk antenna (the one that looks like a saw blade). I'm not sure if this means anything, but it claims to amplify the signal by 25db compared to most others that are in the 10-15db range. I liked it, but try it out first before you buy it.
