Update: I've now had this set 18 months and it now has the vertical line from top of screen to bottom in the exact middle, the dreaded pixel problem. Support was useless so called corporate. They also couldn't compensate me in any way. This replaced a 20-year-old set and I have another 18-year-old set in our house. I truly fear for the planet when we have to dump a TV into the landfill after 18 months...which I can't afford to do, economically or ethically. Do not buy this or any other of the RCA products. By the way, the sound got worse and worse too.
This TV has a beautiful picture, and the so-so sound doesn't bother me much since I often use headphones. Also, you really have to set user mode picture and sound, as preset modes can be awful. However...I have had this set just short of 6 months and it is now turning itself off at least once a day. Additionally, RCA has nothing even resembling customer support; at the telephone no. provided, the so-called customer service reps give no help and answer no questions, they only handle setting up sending sets in for repair. This set replaced a 20-year-old set that never required any repairs, and I was going to purchase a second one to replaceanother set we have that's 15 years old. Not now. How long are we going to continue putting up with totally unreliable crap from China that's not at all inexpensive and has completely devastated the employment situation in the U.S.?
