The speakers are after all, little more than an inch in width.

Running this player while plugged into an AC outlet does NOT charge the battery, as it should.

So far it plays very well, with better-than-average picture and good volume from the speakers.

In October, when my laptop PC caught a virus and needed service, I bought this RCA model DRC99392E as something
to watch when away from home. Wasn't sure I'd keep it but after a few days of use I grew to like this little toy.

It has decent audio output, clear sound but with little in the way of bass frequencies.
The speakers are after all, little more than an inch in width.
Voiume UP and DOWN are the + and - buttons, located to the left of the disc access door.
Numbered adjustments are from 1 to 32.
I watch most movies at VOL 15 or 20, NFL complete game DVDs at VOL 5.

BTW, at first lifting the disc access door is a struggle.
After a while whatever keeps it locked gets easier to handle.

You can choose from a remote-accessible menu a widescreen or standard width picture, for DVDs of either dimension.
The image is sharp, with good color saturation. Brightness and contrast adjustments are also available.

One thing I found amusing:
Stop a movie anywhere before the end. Take the disc out, put it away. Shut off the player and store it too.
The next time you use it, reinsert that same DVD and the machine's memory goes right back to where it left off.
Maybe that's pretty standard stuff, but I thought it clever.

And now the reason for possible concerns about this RCA DRC etc.

About a week ago the player seemed to develop a sort of hiccup (or maybe it took some months to notice it).
Very infrequently, picture and sound seem to freeze for a nearly imperceptible fraction of a second.
Not sure if it's a problem of circuitry, mechanics or memory.
It's also not chronic or blatant enough to declare this player worthless, thus a middling rating.

This is my son's favorite "toy" (he has special needs). He uses it and abuses it. The third one I've purchased. Each one has been very durable under these conditions. If treated properly, I'd probably still have the first one running.

This player replaces my Sylvania TV/DVD combo in which the TV still works, but the DVD went South. So far it plays very well, with better-than-average picture and good volume from the speakers.

Product was just what I wanted. My grandchildren are traveling this summer and I wanted them to have a portable DVD player
