Full clock radio functionally with backlit display; the brightness control allows for 3 settings - (1) High; brighter than an advantage nightlight (2) Medium; too dull to see at night (3) Off; not helpful at all. Prefect for a bedroom that requires a nightlight; we moved it into our home office. Dual wake, sleep and snooze functions work great and are easy to set. The Built-in charging tray has 2 USB ports, an auxiliary port, and cable management; it is the perfect place to dock, store, and charge our 2 iphones or my nook touch. Two suggestions for future versions (1) plugs should come from the back as opposed to sticking out the front (2) the cable management area has only 2 winders, it should have 3 - 2 for the USB charging cables and 1 for the auxiliary cable.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a clock radio / alarm clock that also has 2 USB ports to charge your i-whatever, or anything that you charge with a USB cable. It is not a fancy stereo system docking station that charges and plays at the same time (though you can play your device with the line-in jack).

It's not fancy, but I use it every night - both as an alarm clock for me and to charge 2 devices overnight... with teenagers we have a variety of iPhones / iPads / iPods in the house, and something always needs to be charged. 2 phones or iPods fit easily on the little rest area (cables stored underneath), or 1 iPad fits. As I said, I use it nightly, so it works for me.

PROS:
+ Charges 2 devices at once
+ Cables store underneath (though storage could be better)
+ Nothing elaborate; it's easy to set the time etc with this simple old-school style
+ Also a night light (light does not bother me at all)
+ Easy to find the off button (for the alarm) when in a stupor

CONS:
- The cables pop out (to charge) in an awkward way, leaving a bump
- Nothing elaborate, very old school
- The LED display / night light may bother some (though you can turn it off)

BOTTOM LINE:
Some of my Cons are also my Pros; whether you like this or not depends on what you are looking for. If you just want a simple clock radio that can also charge your i-devices, this works! If you want good sound, or a docking station, or something attractive, you will be disappointed.

PROS:

1. I like that I can adjust the display brightness
2. Gets better reception than my old unit
3. The dual charging is nice, especially with one USB port being stronger than the other ( for tablets )
4. Dual alarms so you can set two different times

CONS:

1. It doesn't have a battery back up, I live in an old house and lots of construction is going on so power will often fluctuate.. This leads to constantly needing to reset it if power is off for more than a second.

2. The "graduewake" feature doesn't seem to work when you use the radio mode, it goes immediately to top volume in my experience.

With that said, it works well .. It's hard to forgive the fact there's no battery backup though, even my super old alarm clock had that capability! I thought this was standard? Lost two stars for lack of a battery, and lost one star since at least on my unit, the gradual wake doesn't work in radio mode.

First off let me say, I love this radio/alarm clock. It is exactly what I was looking for and it delivers. After doing a lot of online research for a nice looking clock radio, I was frustrated by all the negative reviews. Seems that regular low tech clock radios are going by the way side and I found it difficult to find any in stores that you could put your hands on first. RCA has been making radios since they were first invented and they do a good job of putting decent sound in a bedside radio/alarm clock. What I like about this model is that it is simple, sleek design which fits nicely on the bed stand. The top tray which has a felt like material will protect your phone while you are charging it or it is a good place to put any other item that you want within reach, rings, pen, fingernail file etc. The digetal clock is plenty readable and soft on the eyes with its light blue background and darker numbers. Yes it has 3 levels: high, medium and off. and it is a little bright but I would much rather have the soft blue than that hideous alien green you see so often. If it is too bright, I just turn it off, I can still see it in the morning even with my older eyes. As I said the sound is very good for bedside radio, stations come in clearly. The snooze button is handy and even turning off the alarm altogether is easy as it is first button on the right. What I like best about this is that I was able to set the time and the alarms in about 10 minutes. The last one I bought a few years ago,I threw away cause I couldn't figure out how to program it and I waited too long to return it. There is something to be said for low tech. simple instructions and it performs the functions it is supposed to.Read more ›

I love this alarm clock especially since it charges my phone and I don't miss calls or messages. Also love the gentle wake alarm and the ability to shut off the clock light so the room is dark and I sleep better. The only downsides is the lack of a batter backup and the alarm snooze does stop after a time and for me that's hard when I want to sleep in weekends.
