I'm one of the few vitims that has 5 remotes laying around. I have a DVD player, VCR, and DishNetwork all hooked up to the TV. I have to keep all of them because the Dish people forgot to set up all of my stuff. I looked up the remote online and the codes only worked for the Sanyo VCR/DVD combo and only the VCR part. So when I was picking up a few fold-up chairs at Big Lots when I looked through the electroncis selection I found a little selection of RCA remotes. There were only two that were universal. One was $6 thahad 3 universal functions but it was loaded with tons of features that are probably found on only the remotes that come with your TV or VCR or DVD player. But I also had Dish, which means I needed a 4 component remote when I found the RCU404. IT's not a feature-full remote but at least it had the basics and hooked up to everything I needed. It had a list on the back that said these and more. Sanyo were listed in the DVD and VCR section but no Memorex was in the TV section but it said AND MORE...and Memorex isn't that small of a brand and when I open the package at home and looked at the codes...oh wow...it works for Memorex.

I'm glad I no longer have to carry around Sanyo, Memorex, and DishNetwork remotes seperately. Now I only have one. The RCU404 is a pretty good remote. It's not feature loaded and it's kinda small for most people but it works with almost anything, is a very inexpensive replacement, and is easy to use. Plus, it has a strong warranty. The RCU404 is a good general replacement for any universal remote or getting rid of that four remote rack on your TV stand (don't be ashamed, more people should use them if they have that many).

I purchased this remote as a temporary replacement for a lost remote (for a Sharp LCD). It took a few attempts to sync with my television, but eventually I was able to get it all set up. The fact that it did what it said it would do might have garnered this 4 stars.

BUT I can think of only a few situations that would require purchasing this remote:

1. You're looking to replace your remote for an older model RCA television.

1. You've lost your original TV remote and you're using cable TV without a box. (If you have digital cable or satellite, the universal remote for the box should work on your TV.)

2. You've lost your original TV remote and you're using a digital antenna.

If you're in Box #1, this is the right product for you!

Box #2: This might be an ok remote for you. This will control volume, change channels, etc. If you want to adjust colors, sound, etc. you'll probably have to stick with the buttons on your TV. If you're assuming, like I did, that the volume/channel buttons will let you make selections in the menu-- check w/ your manufacturer before purchasing. For my Sharp TV, turns out I need a remote with 5-way keys, i.e. four arrows with an "ok" button in the center. In my opinion, you're eventually going to want a better remote.

Box #3 (where I am): This is not the right remote for you. Digital antennas require remotes with a dash or decimal which this DOES NOT have. Want to get to channel 4.1? You'll need to enter "4" and then the up arrow to get to the right channel.

Conclusion: I got what I paid for. For less than $5 this remote does just about what you would expect.

It works great with my TV. If you have an RCA TV there is no setup you just point it at the TV and it works. Everything works as described.

I bought this to replace the remote from the magnavox digital converter box. It worked perfectly within two minutes of opening it.

This remote is great. I needed something simple and cheap for my kitchen TV which didn't have a remote. This worked perfectly. It is easy to program, and also has VCR/DVD buttons to program. If you need something cheap but easy to use, this is your choice right here!

Yeah, it's cheap, but what do you expect for less than 10 bucks. It does what it is designed to do, and does it pretty well. Buy it if your just looking for a basic remote

All this remote allows me to do is turn my TV on and off - or browse 125 channels of static. I can't figure out how to coerce my remote into switching between inputs; neither my TV or this remote have the function that I so desperately need to play Skyrim.

I've had several of these remotes for years, and I think they're just great. They're inexpensive, handy sized, versatile, and easy to use. The instructions are easy to follow, and there's nothing difficult about their set up or operation. I actually have four of them scattered around my living room, so there's always one close by, and I rarely use the original remotes that came with my TV, VCR, or cable box any more. After several years of regular use, I've found that some of the buttons have started to become unreliable, but that's par for most remote controls that you're likely to find. So for a few dollars each, they're easily replaced. In fact, I recently bought several more, but this is the first time I've had to replace any of them. For me, these remotes are just perfect, and I'd recommend them without hesitation.

This product shipped exactly as promised. This compact remote has a strong range and works perfectly with my RCA TV, General Instrument Cable Box, DVD player and Stereo. Completely surpasses my expectations. Easy to get codes. All the buttons work. Comes with batteries and I was off. I should have purchased a few. The slightly more compact size makes it simpler to use and all the buttons are in their logical places. I really like this remote...Works like a charm. I would highly recommend this.
