I'm a walker - if the day is pretty, I'll stroll aimlessly for hours. While I own an iPod, I wanted a CD player so I could borrow audio books from the library. Faced with a confusing display of numerous models, I remembered that one of my good friends has a CD player with a remote. This remote is very helpful if you want to put the CD player in, say, a backpack, but still want to control the device. After 15 minutes of just staring at the different models, I finally decided on this one.
I couldn't be happier with my choice. Amazon's image doesn't show the remote, which fits into the headphone hole. Headphones (also included) fit into a hole on the top of the remote. Maybe this doesn't sound like much, but it's a wonderful idea for two reasons. First, you don't have to settle for the stock headphones, if you want something nicer. Second, if you're sitting at the computer, say, typing up a review for Amazon, and you hear the phone ring, you can quickly detach the headphones from the remote and dash to the phone. The anti-skip feature is wonderful, perfect for those quick sprints across a busy highway. I haven't tried running for an extended period of time, however. The battery life is amazing: I've had this CD player for over a week, and am still using the first set of batteries I bought. If you're right in the middle of a track and you turn the CD player off (by pressing stop), it saves your position. Next time you start the CD player, you'll be right when you ended. _Very_ handy, and not just for audio books. I'm not sure if this is universal for CD players or not - this is only the second I've ever owned, the first one being when I was eight - but if you press and hold either the back or forwards skip button, the player will rewind or fast forward, respectively. Another wonderful feature that Amazon doesn't mention is the "preset" feature - you can pop in a CD and choose the order in which the songs play. Bass boost - which Amazon _does_ mention - is a nice touch, though nothing extraordinary. Same with the FM radio. Like I said above, I got this at Wal-Mart, and I paid just under $35, while Amazon offers it for $36. A low price for a high-quality machine? Wow. Bargain alert!
