Good, not great, product,
By A Customer
This review is from: RCA RP3751 CD Clock Radio with Green Display (Electronics)
I just received this product and generally like it. It is quite compact, and so fits easily on an overcrowded night stand. Most of the control inputs are buttons, which are easy to find and use. A couple of switches for the alarms are small however, and might cause trouble for some folks. The display digits are very large, so if you need corrective lenses, you should have little trouble reading the time at night. The brightness of the display can only by set bright or dim, by the way, and I use mine at dim. The sound quality is only so-so; but what can you expect for the price? The CD alarm mode lets you select a favorite cut to wake to, and also allows random and repeat plays. My only complaint has to do with the digital display when the snooze button is used. For some odd reason, when this feature is used, the display blinks on and off until the alarm goes off again. And it doesn't display the time. For example, if I choose track 5 to be my wake up song, and set 10 minutes as the "snooze" period, the display will blink "5" the entire 10 minutes. This could be quite annoying if you look at the clock and want to know the time, or if the blinking bothers you. The manual is okay, not detailed. The radio is not something that I will use. A dial is used to select the stations, so, that's kind of fussy and there are no presets.

Good features with one exception,

I liked all the features of this solid, easy to operate unit except one. A feature called "Graduwake" is advertised as being designed to wake you gradually. Now, one might think that gradually means over a period of, perhaps, minutes. However, the beep beep beep tone of the unit increases from soft to extraordinarily loud (hard to wake sleepers might enjoy this) within a period of no longer than 45 seconds, and more often within a period of about 15-20 seconds. This might be acceptible if the beeping always began very low. Unfortunately the beginning place for the beeping varies from low to medium, and occasionally (if the cd is playing at any volume whatsoever) the beeping begins full blast. Full blast beeping on this unit can wake you from 20 feet away or more. If you are listening RCA, I would pay more for a unit that gave real control over the volume of the alarm tone, and the way it increases. I wake easily, and would like to avoid startling my spouse with these loud beeps. Of course I can wake to the radio or cd set a low volume, but the low volume stays low and I have no way of insuring I will awake without using the not-really-Graduwake. If you improve upon Graduwake to the point where it offers more control I'll give this unit away and buy a new one.

CD Player Skips,
By A Customer
This review is from: RCA RP3751 CD Clock Radio with Green Display (Electronics)
The CD player on this clock radio skipped the very first time I tried to use it. I tried different CDs, I tried making certain it was on a very stable surface but it still skipped: about once every minute or so. I'm sending it back this week.

Good Features,

I looked at many option before selecting this one. The compact size was the biggest plus for me. I also liked the large LED display. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I think the graduwake feature works well. The only feature I felt was lacking was the tuner display - it has a smoked glass cover which is a little too dark and makes it hard to read the numbers. I think it has good sound for a small, inexpensive unit.

The sound is tinny, and it emphasizes percussion over the vocals

I just got this radio-clock-cd player for Christmas. I think that it's great. It produces a very good sound, and it's small! I don't have any problems with it. I really like the battery back-up system. If the power goes off or if you unplug it, it still keeps time! This product is compact and convienet and not very expensive. You can unplug it to take it with you, and not lose the time! This is really a great product.

The best toy I've bought in years.,
This review is from: RCA RP3751 CD Clock Radio with Green Display (Electronics)
I could have bought a normal alarm clock, but I liked the features in this RCA unit. At the time I was shopping, Amazon was out of stock, but I found the exact clock at Target & bought it. I f***ing love it. It's not a hi-fi system, but for what it is (a great dual-alarm clock, am/fm/cd stereo with tiny speakers on each side) it actually sounds pretty good. I'm a singer/songwriter & I'm extra picky about music. If I needed a bigger stereo in my bedroom, I could plug my 5-speaker Yamaha computer sound system into the RCA's 1/8 inch stereo headphone jack. What more could I ask for in something as overlooked & underappreciated as an alarm clock. I wake up to it every day, so I consider this a "high involvement purchase" & so should you. Lastly, the "Graduwake" feature is a blessing. Buy this.

Cheap buy,
By A Customer

I recently recieved this product as a gift and was very pleased with its original performance. However, within a week the cd player began to not work, saying that there was no disc loaded. I thought maybe it was just the disc so i tried other ones, none of them worked. I then tried playing the discs in another cd player and they all worked fine. I then decided maybe it was just a flaw in this particular player so i went and exchanged it for a new player. This new player then did the exact same thing to me when i brought it home, however this time it never worked. I would strongly discourage other customers from buying this product. The features are great on the player/alarm clock and I hope that RCA fixes the above described problem soon.

WARNING!!! DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT CDs TO PLAY!!!,

We unpacked this one and were thrilled! Just what we were looking for in a CD/Radio Alarm clock until we put in a CD and it skipped for the first time. Then we took the cd out, put another in and it says nd meaning No Disc. Less than 20 minutes out of the box and the CD player does not work. What is the point in owning this piece of crap? Read the other reviews and you will see that this one should be avoided at all costs unless you want a neat looking radio that won't play cds...
