CD players have come a long way. For less than the price of many single-disc models, you can now own RCA's RP-8065 five-disc CD player. This model comes with a remote and allows you to play tracks randomly (more than five hours of multi-artist music) in either a programmed sequence (up to 32 tracks), repeatedly by track or disc, or as a complete set.

While the RP-8065 doesn't exhibit highly durable build quality, it's nevertheless a fine-sounding unit with a number of features in its favor. For one thing, the RP-8065 has a 1/4-in. headphone jack with its own dedicated volume knob. Also, this CD player's front-panel layout is designed for ease of use. A row of buttons across the top allows you to skip to the next available disc or jump to a specific disc using corresponding numbered buttons. We found the disc-skip time to be faster in the RP-8065 than in many multi-disc changers.

The load-and-play design of the disc drawer lets you load four CDs while one is playing, and the beveled front-panel controls are angled just right for extended fingers. In all, a perfect piece for the music-deficient bedroom or living room.

OK, I was just like you reading reviews to make my decision on purchasing this RCA disc player. The main reason it caught my eye was the price. For eighty bucks how could you not buy it? Anyway, this system is remarkable! The sound is crystal clear and full of life. The remote is great. I can easily control this thing from all over my room. It has a nice, big, colorful screen which you can see across the room. The lights on the top tell you if you have a cd in that slot or not, for instance, if you have a cd in space 4 or not. It has a cool feature to block all the songs you don't want to hear. It is awesome to be able to change all of the other cds while at the same time getting unskipped response from the playing one. The one con is that the shuffle is a little slow (when changing discs).

Pros: 1)sound is GREAT 2)remote helps a lot 3)Big, visible, colorful screen 4)lights on top tell you where you have cds 5)lots of features 6)can replace the other four discs while keeping the other one playing (uninterupted) 7)And you can't forget the PRICE!

Cons: 1)shuffling between discs is a little slow.

Overall, its a great buy. I highly recommend it to people who just want to hear great music (for a cheap price).

I was not even planning to buy a CD changer at this time, but when I saw the RCA RP8065 Changer I could not believe how nice it was...the price was just a bonus, this player competes well with more expensive units, and I am shocked at how nice the unit is, not even the least bit cheesy.

If you have an older RCA Stereo system such as the high end Dimensia system from the late 80's, you will be pleased to know that almost all functions of the RP8065 can be accomplished with the Dimensia System remote control. This is quite a bonus in my book, as many post Dimensia CD Players from RCA will not work with RCA's system remotes (to my knowledge), but this one does, and it even turns on and off like a system component.

The Changer is only lacking in the fact that it does not have direct track access, you only have up or down with the remote. But overall, this is a super deal in this price range, put this player on your shelf and it looks, acts and sounds like a player costing much much more.

Bought it only because it was on sale, turned out to be a great system. Had it a year now, no problems with clarity or playback. Nice features, including a swap-on-the-fly to change discs while others are playing and lamps on the front to tell you which slots have discs and which don't. No more "Where did I put my discs?" in the carousel.

Overall a great CD player and a great value!
