This review is from: RCA VH915 Audio / Video Source Selector Switch Box (Electronics)
has both rca and s-vid connectors, but the drawback is that you must use only one of them for all inputs&outputs - no mix possible

I received my switch box within a very short time after placing my order and had it installed in about 15 seconds. It was very easy to install and works perfectly with my digital cable box, DVR and PS2. I still have a couple of ports available to add on later. The box is easy to use and the remote control is a cool feature. I didn't even realize this unit had a remote control when I ordered it, so it's even better than I expected. Overall, this is an excellent source selector box and for the price, it can't be beaten.

I use this unit to switch inputs with my universal remote. It works perfectly. I like the front display of the input number. I haven't found occasion to use the scan mode.

I bought this switch hoping I could use it to switch from audio from my TV, Mac, PC, and DVD player. Everything was fine until a month after use. My studio speakers (M-Audio BX8) produce a loud hum when connected to this RCA VH915 box. I'm thinking it has something to do with the power outlet not having the third ground prong. But thats just a guess.

I bought this video switcher because of the remote feature. Unit was very easy to hook up. Using all 4 inputs it didn't take to long to remember which number controlled which input, (sat. TV, 4; PS2, 2; DVD, 1, ect.) The other switch I had, (manual), had the descrition on the buttons. This remote switch works really well but with one problem, of course it could be my TV. During a scene, when the picture is mostly a very bright white, (mostly during commercials, which is OK anyhow), the video on the TV cuts out and the screen displays the message, "unusable signal", until the scene changes, most of the time just for a few seconds. No big problem as far as I am concerned.

It works quite well, is easy to install and the remote is a major league plus. The only negative is that it does mess up the signal a bit when there is a lot of white on the screen, which you may want to take into account if you are considering this item. The reason we bought it is because we just got a Wii and are completely out of space for plugging anything else into the TV. However, as Wii owners will know, there are a lot of times when games like Wii Fit or the Wii shopping channel, etc. have a lot of white on the screen, and that's when you'll notice the white squigglies. Still, this is mostly for start-up screens and filler spots, so it doesn't interfere with the huge majority of time you'll be using it. Otherwise, this is a very good product and we have absolutely no other issues with it.

This is the best audio/video switcher I have ever used. It was very easy to hook-up, up to four devices to this switcher and even easier to use. Great Buy!!!

This box does what it advertises, but there are others that will do it much better. Video quality definitely suffers when connected to this box.

Defective S-video output,

I purchased this for it's S-video capability. Be fore-warned that you can only use either the S-video OR composite video inputs/outputs. I set it up using the S-video output to my television and mistakenly thought that the composite video input from my DVD player would get converted to S-video. It did not. The instructions tell you this but I didn't notice anything on Amazon. Luckily I had an S-video to composite video converter to take care of that problem. The bigger problem was the S-video signal. With high brightness backgrounds (lots of white) I experienced periodic flickering video on the television when I connected using my cable box S-video output through the source selector's S-Video inputs and outputs then to the S-Video input. This did not happen when I connected the S-video cable directly from the cable box to the television. I tried the four different inputs with the same results. So I am in the process of returning this. I haven't read all the reviews but would be interested to know if others have noticed a similar problem. |
