4.0 out of 5 stars Some features do not work well.
Movie advance is marginal at best for getting right to the movie. Many times it just keeps going forward without stopping. Also, the auto time set feature is very selective as to what cable system it will work with. I could not find one time source station (Time Warner Cable).

3.0 out of 5 stars vcr BLUES
This unit is the closest I could come to matching VR555, an RCA vcr I have been very pleased with. However, even though VR639HF has all the same features, it does not tell you what is going on in the VCR display window. It is also a very noisy machine when it ejects or accepts a tape. I was also disappointed with the remote, which has no mute or volume control. I miss...

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes a lickin'...keeps on tickin', August 14, 2005
This review is from: RCA VR639HF 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR (Electronics)
I have had this VCR since it came out, years I tell you. After all this time, the remote stills works without fail. The Movie and Commerical advance is still on point and I have no problems with the unit what so ever. I have made it from college, to three apartments and a move from North to South and it is still running fabulously. Every once in a while I'll pop in a cleaner and then keep it moving, since I tape a show everyday at 6am for the last 5 years, I have had absolutely no problems with it. I have to say that the newer VCR versions do not compare.
