Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

As Reactor's signature model, the Fallout sets a new standard in sports watches with unmatched construction and superior style designed to exceed Swiss standards. This men's watch is built to last, with a solid, marine-grade 316L stainless steel 40-millimeter case and wrist band, which also includes a triple-secure clasp for extra security. The watch also features a secure "screw bar" case-to-band interface, which provides five to seven times the strength of traditional spring bars; and the hardened mineral glass crystal offers extreme scratch and shatter resistance. But the watch's ultra durability does not forego beauty: it sports a striking silver dial with stylish blue and white, art-deco inspired indexes, which feature blocky Arabic numerals and rectangular shapes. The indexes are equipped with the patented Superluminova finish, which provides up to eight hours of low-light readability. A unidirectional bezel with etched numerals provides a detail of elegance as well as additional timekeeping functionality. The watch also includes three smaller sub-dials for even more precise timekeeping. With a thick, forged caseback that includes an integrated O-ring, the watch provides superior water resistance to a depth of 200 meters: like all Reactor watches, it is individually tested to its depth rating. The watch is powered by analog quartz movement.

2.0 out of 5 stars Will most likely arrive with a dead battery, January 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: REACTOR Men's 64002 Fallout Chronograph Silver Dial Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
The dead battery is an Amazon.com problem. Reading reviews on several watches shows that they have a bad habit of shipping dead watches. This is NOT the fault of the manufacturer. Amazon buys in large quantities and it takes a fair amount of time to sell the inventory, in that time the batteries go dead. My suggestion to Amazon is either 1 - Get out of the watch business or 2 - Pull the crown out on the watch to stop it from running down the battery. Granted this watch has a screw down crown - an excellent feature by the way, but you can still unscrew it and pull it out to stop the watch. Another note to Amazon - do NOT put in the little card telling me that I can go to any jeweler and inexpensively get a battery replaced with Reactor watches. This is not true and voids the warranty.

Pros: Screw down crown, Nice weight - heavy, but not cumbersome. Built like a tank - a feature I wanted. Rugged yet still sporty and dressy at the same time - I loved the look. The case looks cool and would look right at home on a dresser - easy to display the watch when you are not wearing it.

Cons: Japanese movement, not Swiss. Mineral crystal, not sapphire. The bezel alignment was poor. It kind of lined up with the numbers, but not exactly. The detent stops were just a bit off - you could put it in one to the right and then shift the bezel to be where it belonged, just before the next stop that was a bit too far left - a watch like this should not have that problem. To get the battery replaced you MUST send it back to Reactor to keep the watch in warranty. If ANY other jeweler opens the watch, the warranty is void. You only have to put up with this for 2 years though. Their authorized retailers are NOT allowed to open the watches. Amazon is an authorized retailer. After the 2 years are up, you can take it to a reputable jeweler that sells good watches and pressure tests the watch - this will cost about $50.

The company - they offered to let me send my watch back (originally at my cost, I talked them into free shipping) they would replace the battery/fix/replace watch whatever necessary and ship it back free - per the warranty. This would take about a week with mailing back and forth. I decided to just get rid of the watch and shipped it back to Amazon for free. I was left unimpressed with the service - they would honor the warranty, but that is not really doing me a favor, I did BUY the warranty with the watch. Free shipping - OK, but how about overnighting it back to me, after all I never even got to wear it or even see it working! Not exactly what I would call making an effort at creating a "Raving Fan." Apparently their "unprecendented level of support we will offer our select group of retailers" does not include making sure the select retailers don't let the batteries go dead sitting on the shelf.

Overall a cool looking watch with a nice feel, but not $300 cool - a good buy at $175 - no higher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, September 18, 2009

I usually do not write reviews, but this watch deserves one. I have had this watch (blue face version) for over a year. It is simply amazing. I have used it out on my jetski and a minute after being in the water it's like it was never wet. I never have to worry about water or damage to this watch. It's also the only one that I haven't been able to break or at least scratch. I bang it around a lot doing everyday things and it still looks like new.

If you have never held one of these or tried one on you have no idea how well they are built. It is very heavy, but it is also heavy duty. I'm the only one I know who has one of these and I get complimented all the time (even over my freind's Seiko's, Movado's etc.).

Do not hesitate. Buy this watch. Great build!

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking, poor quality, not much of a Chronograph, March 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: REACTOR Men's 64002 Fallout Chronograph Silver Dial Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
Beautiful looking watch and very heavy (you may or may not like that). But that's all that's beautiful about this watch. The Chronograph is just a second hand and a minutes hand (no 1/10s, or 1/20s). And then, the best thing is that as I was trying to get the chronograph minutes hand to go back to zero (it wasn't resetting) and the instructions which come with it don't tell you how to do that... the minute hand fell off and is now loose inside of the case under the crystal. Wow, for a $300 watch this is pretty poor. I guess I'm going to go order a Tissot or more known brand as this isn't impressive in the least.
The baby is going back (20 minutes after it arrived).
