GRYPHON: How do you make a plastic watch tough enough to be called a Reactor? Make it out of stainless steel. Seeing how tough space-age polymers are dominating the firearms market, we decided to experiment. Step one was finding the right polymer, which we did with Nitromidª, a glass-reinforced polymer with a tensile strength higher than steel. But that was only part of the problem. All plastics have some elasticity, which improves their durability and impact resistance, but really hinders their ability to be made highly water tight. Our solution? A stainless steel core that houses all of the water-tight connections on a watch - crystal, caseback, and screw-down crown. The result is a watch over 50% lighter than an all steel model with the same water-tight integrity but improved scratch and impact resistance. We call that the best of both worlds. And of course, Gryphon features our patented Never Dark¨ illumination technology, which keeps the watch visible 24/7 regardless of light. For military, public safety, and active outdoorsmen, we don't think you can buy a better watch at any price.

Did some research on the Reactor watch and decided to spend another $350 as this watch seem to have what I was looking for.
The watch looks and fits as well as any watch I have ever owned. It is almost indestructable with the screw down crown and great visibility at night. I have worn it now for a couple of weeks and can detect no noticeable time loss / gain. If you need an excellent waterproof comfortable watch, this one is for you.
For the most part, I prefer Arabic numerals on an analog watch dial, but the clever design of this watch's bright orange dial can be read with the quickest of glances, and the dial illumination system is rivaled only by the push-button back-lighting found on other watches--except the Gryphon's illumination system is automatic and hands-free.
One of the big talking points of the REACTOR Gryphon, and other REACTOR watches in the ND series, is their novel and ingenious combination of Superluminova and Tritium illumination technologies, to produce a watch dial that is readily visible in any lighting situation. The REACTOR approach is hands-free and it doesn't drain the battery. They call this feature Never Dark, and I'm here to tell you it works.
The build-quality of all REACTOR watches is remarkable and the Gryphon is no exception. Every feature of this watch is exceptionally rugged and well thought out. The Gryphon easily meets and exceeds the specifications of comparable watches costing many times what the Gryphon sells for; and rather than repeat what REACTOR has already said and shown us about their products, I'd urge anybody interested in one of these watches to research this information both here and on the OEM's website. A visit to YouTube will prove most informative too... Right down to the smallest feature and detail, my REACTOR Gryphon is remarkable and impressive. And I have it on good authority that the Gryphon is currently REACTOR's top-selling model.Read more ›
