This review is from: WHO ARE YOU, REALLY? Understanding Your Life's Energy (Paperback)
This book is right on the money. Now I know why I have always felt that I am different than the majority of people. I am a dynamic assertive. After reading Gary's book my relationships with people have improved dramatically because I know who they are even better than they know themselves. I am now better able to leverage my abitlities as a dynamic assertive to increase my income, choose my friends more carefully, and turn seemingly negative situations around to benefit me because I know who the other people are and what they want so I can see that they get their needs met and mine also. Now I look back at the events in world history and see with much more clarity why things happened the way they did. This book is easy to read and fascinating.

4.0 out of 5 stars An insightful view of personality types and relationships., September 28, 1996

This review is from: WHO ARE YOU, REALLY? Understanding Your Life's Energy (Paperback)
Like most of Gary Null's work he attempts to break the mold of mainstream thinking and develop creative alternative ways for people to improve themselves. This book discusses a new and facinating paradigm developed by Gary which covers every personality type. The book is wriitten in simplistic terms in order for everyone to understand his concepts. This book should be read by anyone with any interest in self discovery as well as people about to get married, start a partnership or enter any relationship. It is an insightful look at what drives not only ourselves but also anyone you may know and helps understand how to communicate more effectively

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate self and societal personality discovery book., August 17, 1997

This review is from: WHO ARE YOU, REALLY? Understanding Your Life's Energy (Paperback)
The perfect book for anyone desiring self discovery or enlightenment. Explains why others are different form you and you from them. Written in an easy to read format that anyone can understand. Learn why we get along well with some people and not with others. Find out if your really living up to your True Life Energy or simply doing what you were conditioned for. Are you successful but, unhappy? You may not be living your True Life Energy.

This book is a MUST read for any employer or person in an Executive/Management position. It will help you understand why certain energy types are best for certain positions and allow you to set up your organization for the best productivity, customer satisfaction & employee relations.

This book might possibly be the single most powerfull tool a business or individual can posses when trying to truly understand what makes people who they are. You will discover traits that you did not know they possessed and perhaps even they were unaware of. You can then utilize these traits to every ones benefit.

This is the type of book that can be read again and again because there is so much insight that you will find something new and enlightening with each reading. If you ever read the books "Winning Office Politics" or "How to Win Friends & Influence Enemies" then "Who are you Really" takes you far beyond to a greater understanding of why books such as the former two can be an effective tool when applied properly. "Who Are You Really" gives you that insight and much more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good basic theory, but flawed in Null's application, September 2, 1998

This review is from: WHO ARE YOU, REALLY? Understanding Your Life's Energy (Paperback)
Gary Null has presented an interesting system of personal typing based on "Dynamic Life Energy" and how an individual uses it. The descriptions of the characteristics and motivations of each type are spelled out in an easy to identify way. His concepts and this book is a good starting point for his discussion on this, but falls short in the following ways:

1. He never clearly defines what he means by Dynamic Life Energy.

2. He negates the value of the entire system by claiming that 95+% of the people are Adaptive Supportives. If that's true, then there is very little to learn because the odds favor you and I and most everyone is an Adaptive Supportive. So, there seems to be an elitist attitude since Gary Null seems to refer to himself as a Dynamic Assertive type. My impression is that Gary Null is frustrated by the perceived apathy he sees in 95+% of the people he comes in contact with, so he labels them as one type. It appears to be a slanted viewpoint.

Still, the book and his theory has merit and further exploration should be fruitfull. It;s applications are of value in one's life.

Thank you for your service. Requiring I write a specific number of words is inappropriate Amazon. Interesting perspective on a person's inherent nature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Read, April 15, 2008
This review is from: WHO ARE YOU, REALLY? Understanding Your Life's Energy (Paperback)
All I can say is that Gary captured me and my daughter's personality type exceptionally well. I've loaned it to friends, and they all end up saying "that's me." My daughter said it felt great (she's a creative assertive) to know that she wasn't wierd. I enjoy reading books about personality types, and found this to be a great read. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book helped me make a career change, April 11, 2007

This review is from: WHO ARE YOU, REALLY? Understanding Your Life's Energy (Paperback)
I read this book about 6 years ago and it helped me a great deal. It helped me understand why I wasn't happy with my career, and that led me to make a career change. I realized that I had always been the "creative assertive" type, but was working in a career much better suited to the "dynamic assertive" type. Now I'm in a creative career and I'm so much happier with my work. I'm very grateful for the insights in this book. I wish I had read it much earlier in life.

2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent concept, but a little too scatterbrained, July 23, 2003

After you read the intro to this book, you realize that Gary knew he had something to share when he thought of the ideas in witin these pages. He must have gotten overly excited, however, because the ideas expressed throughout this book are all over the place.

Basically, each one of us falls into one of 6 types (I believe it was). He goes into great detail about each one of the types, and even gives a questionnaire to determine which type you are. However, the answers aren't very clear cut and after reading the book 2 times, I'm still not sure which type I am. I thought I might have missed something the first time around, so I read it again. I was more confused the second time.

I believe that each one of us has a dominant type, but on certain days, months, and even years of our lives, we can live comfortably within any of these other groups. I'm in total agreement with another reviewer when he said that Gary put most people into one category because of the laziness that they show. Anyone can be a "Dynamic Aggressive" or a "Dynamic Assertive" if they want to be. It's all about how you view yourself and if you're willing to focus on your goals. If you're lazy, you can accept the "Adaptive Supportive" title and live your life working a mediocre job and never chasing your dream.

This book has far too many flaws for me to recommend it.
