Very Happy: comfortable, safe
I've been very happy with the Recarro Signo (we have them in both pink and cobolt). My kids (17 months, 3 yrs, 5 yrs) all find them very comfortable. I like the side impact feature which keeps them safe and also gives them head and neck support when they fall asleep (no stiff necks). The seats can be rear or forward facing depending on the age/weight of your child and...

RECARO SIGNO RECALLED!!
We just bought this seat for our son. We absolutely loved it. It was just recalled for for having a faulty tightening mechanism on straps! They can possibly come loose on impact! So much for safety; very disappointed. I thought I would never buy a car seat from another manufacturer ever again, well so much for that. I guess Britax it is.

The seats can be rear or forward facing depending on the age/weight of your child and cover kids weighing from 5 to 70 lbs. They are fairly simple to install with clear directions in the instruction manual. However, you would not want to be moving these seats between cars on a regular basis because the strap and latch attachments are very tight, making it challenging to detach and reattach them. The 5pt harness straps do get twisted on a frequent basis, which is a pain, but I've now figured out how to straighten them in quick order so it's not a big deal. FYI, the recall mentioned in the earlier review was for seats manufactured between Feb and Sept 2008, so check the mfg date on any seat you are considering purchasing and avoid that time window.

On Recaro web site is detailed information about time of production of recalled seats and how to check for possible defect - in which case replacement will be send. I drive Toyota Camry 1996 and I was wondering if it will fit because looks kind of big. I was able to put it in without any problems. The only way to secure in my car is a seatbelt - but it stays very well in its place. Installation is very easy too. I needed to use a towel to adjust a proper level (We still keep rear facing - my baby is 4 months and 17 pounds). I was also worried if there will be enough room to put baby in - but there is enough. It looks that my son likes this seat - he looks very comfortable and doesn't complain. It is hot - that is true - even with ventilation holes on the sides, but we don't have that many hot months here. Belts adjust very easy (comparing to my old infant seat Flex-Lock ). I was looking at Britax at the store, but this one looks more solid to me. I would recommend this seat. I hope I will never find out how for real this car seat is good, but I have to admit - I trust the brand.
