Much better than the factory butt cap. It marries my shoulder to the rifle with it's rubber ribs and curved design. Control is much improved due to the fact it isn't prone to slip down or to the side while shooting. Simple to install and reasonably priced.

Have two rifles that we tried this part on and found that it will not fit the 10/22 Compact and the 10/22 All- weather.

This recoil pad is certainly better than the original in that it fits the shoulder better and doesn't slip. Adding another inch to the carbine is also a definite plus for me but the poor fit is a major disappointment. It looks like what it is, an after market add on.

This product does not fit a factory Ruger 10/22 stock very well at all. Yes, you can simply screw it on and go. That is if you like unsightly gaps and the extra wide butt pad protruding beyond the sides of your stock.

Also, as i found out the hard way, it cannot be sanded to fit either. This butt pad is over-molded plastic, a fact that is not included in the product description. The problem with that is that when you try to sand it down to fit, you will sand thru the very thin rubber over-molding and expose the plastic skeleton underneath. Not only does this look bad but it separates the rubber and plastic, and that causes the butt pad to fail.

In short, this is a low quality, ill fitting product, that cannot be fitted. Save yourself the $15.

It fits very poorly. In fact, it just doesn't fit at all, at least on my 10/22's standard, OEM birch stock.

The new plate fit well, though it is thicker (up to 3/16 (e.g., 3/32 on both sides) in places) than the stock one was. Of course, it could be sanded to a precise fit, if that was desired.

The cushioning this new plate offers was not necessary to address recoil of this light a caliber of gun. Still, it is more comfortable than a stock plate, offers protection when resting the gun on its butt plate, and it looks nice.

This adds about one inch to the over all length of the gun. This may, or may not be a plus, depending on the end user's needs or preferences.

But it on in under 3 minutes by myself, added a good inch which helped a bunch, and it grips my shoulder without slipping. It definitely made my rifle more comfortable and absorbed the recoil!
