By Animal Advocate "Animal Advocate" (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: REDFOOTS & YELLOWFOOTS (Turtles of the World) (Paperback)
This reference book makes understanding proper care of the Redfoot/Yellowfoot Tortoise easy and foolproof. The author is extremely knowledgeable of tortoise care. This should be the number one book purchased by anyone wishing to care for their tortoises properly and to gain a better understanding of these animals.

A must read for the Redfoot or Yellowfoot tortoise keeper,
By
This review is from: REDFOOTS & YELLOWFOOTS (Turtles of the World) (Paperback)
What makes this book stand out from others is that it is written in a knowledgeable, yet easily understandable, manner. All aspects of the species are covered, and documented, with many great photographs.
Some very intriguing aspects are the distinctions between Redfoots from different geographical areas, the detail paid to husbandry, the lists of edible vs. toxic plants, and the very comprehensive suggested reading and resources lists. I highly recommend this book to those interested in keeping these tortoises. Both new and experienced keepers will find interesting and reliable information presented in a most palatable manner.

I am privileged to know Ms. Ebenhack, and I rely on her input constantly in the care of my tortoise and reptile pets. This woman lives and breathes tortoises every minute of every day. They are her life, and her passion. This books is much more than facts, there is insight and a knowledge gained only by a lifelong commitment. I would say this book is a MUST for any red/yellowfoot owner, and absolutely necessary if you are thinking of investing in these wonderful, charismatic torties!

A Great Turtlekeeper Shares Her Knowledge,
By
This review is from: REDFOOTS & YELLOWFOOTS (Turtles of the World) (Paperback)
Amanda Ebenhack has demonstrated her open, exploratory minds in a field few have studied. Like Jane Goodall for Chimpanzees, and Dian Fossey for Gorillas, Amanda Ebenhack has greatly increased our knowledge of turtles and tortoises. It is a service both to tortise-keepers and to world knowledge that she has written this book. Even a quick read will show you that her knowledge is greater and deeper than anyone else you have encountered, and that she brings that special insight to her subject which is that mark of greatness. And, oh yeah, if you have or are considering getting one of these delightful creatures, you'll probably enjoy it for decades more if you read her book.
