I bought a 5th generation ipod less than 2 years ago and it stopped working this week. The problem is an electrical short that has happened to numerous other 5th gen ipods. The device will only work when it is cold (refrigerated) or the ambient temperature is cold. I was originally worried about battery life but my ipod didn't work long enough to need to be sent in to apple to replace the battery.
