Well worth a read. A truly interesting life recorded in an interesting fashion as humble and unassuming as the man is depicts.

This is a great book on somebody you don't normally here much about in WWII history books. He led a very blessed life.
Enjoyed the writers approach and "complete" life history with ups and downs. Very well written book you really don't want to put down

Very well researched and written bio of an interesting but somewhat obscure British naval officer and winner of the Victoria Cross. Recommended for those truly interested in little known aspects of WWII.

Just like my title says, this is a good book about a good man. But as you read your way through, you'll say, "Ok, when do I get to the good part?" The "good part" never comes. I don't mean to be too critical, but you know what I mean. The captain is an interesting man, and has had some incredible adventures even before WWII, but there's lacking one single event that you can hang your hat on and say, wow. An interesting, and long read, but not one that will keep you up at night, anxious to turn the next page.
