A complete premium kit should have wiring options for both series and parallel configurations but an incomplete premium kit does not.
Stephanie Heck
I would recommend ordering fuses and fuse holders, the kit does not come with any.

I intend to make this constructive critique. I will amend this review when the problem is resolved.

Observation: I am pleased with the hardware that was included in the kit. I am not pleased with the wiring that was not included. There is no meter included in this kit.

Pros: Good quality panels. Well Built.
Pros: Well built MPPT solar control box with ample heat sinks. I approve.
Pros: Mounting hardware is study and made of steel. Good deal.

Con: With this particular incomplete kit, if you wire up the panels in series as advised by the sales people for your company, you then max out the 40 Amp MPPT controller at 400 watts due to the much higher voltage from the series connection. The sales people would be happy to sell me another controller, being as there is no potential for expansion beyond 400W by using series connections. Premium kits by definition can be expanded.

It does require 3 sets of branch connectors and a total of 4 cables five foot in length to have a parallel wired 12 or 24 volt solar array at 400 Watts. The 3 sets of branch connectors and 4 extra five foot cables are not included in this incomplete kit.

In technical reality, the 40 Amp MPPT controller is capable of being expanded to higher solar wattage by adding more100W panels, but only by using parallel connections for the panels.

The minimal standard wiring included with this incomplete kit only allows for a series connection with a total of two twenty foot cables included. The cables are not labeled according to gauge. I have no idea if they are 10 or 12 gauge wiring. Thus I do not know the capacity. I would prefer 10 but I suspect they are 12. Ten gauge wire would be better for parallel wired 400W arrays due to additional amperes.

I have four panels on three boat batteries using this voltage regulator. The panels are easy for one person to move. wire connections and diagrams are easy. the cables attach to the regulator with a screwdriver. Now the regulator itself is a little complex and requires some reading if you want to use the DC power out feature, but if you just want it to run into batteries it is four screws and done. I bought also the remote ethernet jack for inside the house. In order to get power storage out of this I suggest a marine boat battery or several of those (about $100 per battery). then use a DC to AC inverter to power things. These panels have been on my roof I think about a year, hailed on, snowed on, etc. Paint looks good still, charge is good. I'm not an electrician so to buy something, set up quickly, and have power just fall out of the sky has been a real treat. I used this to make two off grid outlets with the DC to AC inverter by running a long DC cable under my door off the patio. If the power goes out, I can still use solar and marine battery power. Have tested it with my 55 gallon fish tank. ran it off grid for two weeks recently. I would buy these again, and would rec to a friend. Build yourself a few off grid outlets in just a couple of hours with a screwdriver and a vise grip. when the power is out and you have light and some power for phones and things you will be glad you did.

This kit comes with almost every thing you need to charge a battery or battery bank that is ether 12 or 24 volt. I would recommend ordering fuses and fuse holders, the kit does not come with any. The instructions and install are simple and easy. the kit was package very well to protect it during shipping. The bottom line is I am very happy with this 400 watt kit.
