Gritty and realistic murders set in suburban Britain,

This review is from: REQUIEM MASS (Paperback)
I can't believe how little known this author seems to be...but now I've discovered her I'll definitely be reading the next books featuring DCI Andrew Fenwick.
This particular story begins with a crime so the reader knows what happened in the past...but not 'whodunit' until a little later. The majority of the book is set in the present and is realistic, well thought out and engaging. If I had to liken the style of writing to any other author it would be Mark Billingham, not because of any of the ideas but because it's set in England and is a well planned, gripping thriller

Top class read!,

Elizabeth Corley has produced a brilliantly executed thriller. Well written and gripping, it begins with a murder - and from that time on, the mystery deepens, pulling the reader into the investigation which spreads over increasingly desperate time. Look not for the fabulously beautiful feisty heroine or the tough as steel guts hero. The characters in this novel are totally believable. The leading policeman, Andrew Fenwick is a man caught between the constraints of his job and his young, troubled family; his colleagues are ordinary people doing their best amid extraordinary circumstances. This is a book which is well worth a reader's time and effort in finding a copy. I shall be searching for Corley's other books now! |
