4.0 out of 5 stars Staying ahead of sharp things
Just going to secong several posts already here. I use a mandolin for preparing foods, and I collect swords that need to be maintained. Nothing is absolutely gauranteed to stop a slash or puncture in case of an accident, but these Kevlars provide some measure of safety and give you a chance to react to those accidents and maybe drop the trash before you're seriously...

1.0 out of 5 stars nearly worthless when used with a mandolin
When I first received the gloves I had great doubt on whether or not these gloves would protect my fingers against the sharp blades of a mandolin. They appear to be nothing more than thin cotton knitted gloves coated with a thick rubberized coating. 1.0 out of 5 stars nearly worthless when used with a mandolin, November 21, 2010

When I first received the gloves I had great doubt on whether or not these gloves would protect my fingers against the sharp blades of a mandolin. They appear to be nothing more than thin cotton knitted gloves coated with a thick rubberized coating. Sure enough, I slashed through the tip of one finger the very first time I used the gloves with a mandolin. No, I did not cut my finger but only because my gloves were longer than my finger.

These gloves are not giving me the peace of mind I was hoping for when I purchased them.

To be fair, the gloves are not specifically marketed toward mandolin users. It was positive reviews of mandolin users that led me to purchase them. I would feel confident enough to use these gloves for handling sharp glass or metal edges.

No complaints using these. I bought the larges because I wear size 11 gloves and these fit me very well. Price was great and they were mailed fast.

I have a stained glass shop and the gloves are just the thing for handling the glass and not getting nicked or cut. Great gloves.

I've used these for shucking oysters and making french fries with a mandolin. They work great.

Well, I haven't tested the bullet stopping abilities, but they do fit great and are a great alternative to using the plastic holder that came with my mandolin slicer.

I am very glad I ordered these gloves. I originally bought them for shucking oysters. They work well for this. I use a dull knife with an upturned end. If I was using a sharp knife these would not offer enough protection.

I have found a surprising second use for the gloves. They work wonderfully to open stubborn jars.

I priced these gloves against Kevlar gloves from my favorite sources (MSC, Grainger's, even eBay) and nobody came close to having the same price for equivalent quality. Definitely great buy! In fact, I bought a second pair (one for work, one for side-jobs)!

Flexible, strong- perfect for shucking oysters. 4 stars only because wrist cuff could be a bit higher. Husband loved it.
